You gotta love it when TV hosts have a little fun with their guests. By now I imagine many of you have seen the two US television debut performances by South Korean Pop group, Girls Generation. Well earlier today, Kelly Ripa tweeted a photoof her and the girls on the set of her daytime talk show. It remains to be seen what, if any lasting impact the group will have on the music scene, but it must have been an exciting past 24 hours for them!

With the impending release of The Wonder Girls Movie on TeenNick on February 2nd, the Korean quintet held their movie premiere event last night. The above picture was an image they shared of their official movie poster. Although the TV Movie may be geared to an age demographic outside that of many of our readers, it can’t be denied that JYP Entertainment has worked full force to keep the promotional engine running to keep these girls in the public eye. First there was the cross over single, “Nobody”, then a tour with Bieber and Jordan Sparks, and now a cable TV film? Not too shabby. Let’s see if it makes a dent in the American pop culture market!

Some of you may have seen a billboard of Traphik for a campaign by Virgin Mobile called “DoWhateverItTakes”. Long story short, it’s an awesome initiative meant to encourage the use of social media to help keep kids off the street and put an end to youth homelessness. Of course, the organizers leveraged his sizeable online celebrity status and plastered his face on ads, as you can see above.
His particular campaign is over but you can check out his contribution page here. Here’s the initial fundraising pledge, and the result after meeting the goal – it’s kind of painful to watch but not as bad as it could have been; spoiler – he gets his pubes waxed in the name of charity. Big ups to Timothy DeLaGhetto for using his celebrity likeness for a great cause.

Those who keep up with singer Joyo Velarde on Facebook may have noticed the above two pictures that were recently shared. It’s of Mrs. Born killing it on stage at the Pyramid Rock Festival on Phillips Island in Australia. What a way to close out the year, seems like both Joyo and the crowd are having the time of their lives. Major props to Bree Kristel Photography for capturing such an epic moment on film SD card.

But he couldn’t throw down a show in the city of angels without linking up with the town’s golden child, Dumbfoundeadso for the lucky few who were there, you got to see the young and the new school share a moment in the spotlight. If you’re a Lil Crazed fan, you are likely to be aware that he is the father of two sons, Isaac & Alijah – the latter being the older by 2 years. We came across this heart warming photo from a recent shoot of the artist and his boys in their plaid shirts and snapbacks. Years from now, the Crazed KiDs will be happy to know that their Pops didn’t drag them to JC Penny and take awkward family photos like the rest of America; their father was cooler than that. Awesome seeing even a glimpse into the life behind the rapper.

Well ain’t that something? Kina Grannis‘ popularity never ceases to grow and she’s managed to find herself the subject of a two page feature spread in In Touch Weekly. Definitely well deserved and it’s awesome to see how stoked she still is as the publicity on her continues to explode. I can’t quite make out the text from the slightly blurry cam shot that she posted to Twitter, but it seems pretty evident that the article is about her recent viral music video, “In Your Arms“. Too cool.

I’m honestly not sure when or where this picture was taken, or even how we found it. But my best guess is that this is on set of the music video for “Lava” by JL, L. Scatterbrain, Lyraflip, Lyricks, Manifest, Dumbfoundead and DJ Zo – meaning the photo has to be at least a year and a half to two years old. How’s that for a Snapshot in time? Esna makes an appearance though L.S. is curiously missing… perhaps he’s taking the picture?
Odd to think how much has happened since this photo was taken. Mani & JL have been to Korea and back again (welcome home fellas!), Lyricks has remained a staple in the DMV/East Coast Hip-Hop scene, Dumb & Zo have been conquering the world… and I dunno where Flip & Scatter are right now. They’ve been kind of quiet, fell off our radar a bit. Can’t wait to see what will become of everyone in another two years!

Towards the end of the baseball season, the band Rooftop Pursuithad the opportunity to perform before the Mets game against the Braves at Citi Field. Here’s a snapshot we found of part of the band from the sound check before they got to sing to an entire stadium of people. Perhaps one day, they’ll be the headliners for a crowd of that magnitude - let’s hope so because they certainly are talented enough. There’s some footage on Youtube of them performing but nothing with a great view. If you’re really interested, I’m sure you’re savvy enough to find it =).

Halloween sure is a silly time ain’t it? Well, some of our favorite stars sure are familiar with the festivities and as you can see, Cathy Nguyen and Victor Kim decided to make an appearance at an event dressed up as… Lady Gaga and half of LMFAO. I gotta give em props, their costumes turned out great! For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t mind seeing some footage of everyone in action – decked out in their complete costume. Heck, if you’re an artist and read this blog, humor me and make a full MV in character for next year! Yeah?… No?… Sigh, no one listens to me.
