Passport: John Park (of American Idol Fame) Competes on Korea’s Superstar K

On the last season of American Idol, John Park stood out for his crooner voice and ability to nearly charm the pants off of Shania Twain. John made it to the live semi-finals where he quickly fell into the middle of the pack and was ultimately voted off due to his flat performances and poor song choices. Personally I thought he’d be just another singer who comes and goes from the public radar but it looks like he’s giving his singing career via reality TV another shot. Superstar K, which has a lot in common with The X Factor and American Idol, is a Korean singing competition now in it’s second season. It was a run away hit and John appeared during the audition show and is rumored to be in the final top 10. He decided to sing Alicia Key’s “If I Ain’t Got You” along with a cool rendition of the Wonder Girls’ “2 Different Tears“. Judging from his audition below, he still has some issues with stage presence and “star quality”, but as the female judges Lena Park & Tasha exclaim, he’s still got that charm. Tiger JK and Seo In Young are the other judges in this episode. Gotta love JK’s closing comment “You gotta show American Idol wassup man.”

*Note: mNet’s been taking these clips down from Youtube with a vengeance, so I tried a different host. I can’t promise the clip will be up forever.

The Wonder Girls Post More Behind the Scenes Footage from MV Shoot for 2DT

It’s almost been a month since their MV dropped for their new single “2 Different Tears” but the Wonder Girls have shared more behind the sceens footage from the shoot set to the Korean version of the song. It looks like they had a lot of fun making the video and you get to see when they first meet comedian Bobby Kim who seems a little bit starstruck himself. As I’m sure you know, these girls are currently keeping busy on their North American tour.

The Wonder Girls Release Their ’2 Different Tears’ Single Album & MV

You knew it was coming, and here it is… the darlings of the KPOP to US crossover wave, the Wonder Girls, have officially released their new single album entitled ’2 Different Tears’. This is their first US single in over a year after the endless marathon promotion of ‘Nobody’. So how is it? It definitely has a catchy sound though its not as instantly infectious as ‘Nobody’. And the overall sound is straight out of 1979, heavy with the synths and electronic disco drum beats.

You can check out the MV below. Bobby Lee (the comedian) randomly features. It’s got a Charlie’s Angels motif going on… and has Bobby Lee in full pedo mode… kinda awkward.

Pick up the single from Amazon! The more I listen to it the more it’s growing on me. I can see this potentially making an impact.

Wonder Girls Reveal New Single, Cover Art, and EP

It’s been a LONG time since the Wonder Girls and JYPE have taken pre-orders for their debut full-length American album… and the sad news looks like it’s been pushed back again. Now the estimated release date is Fall 2010… a full year since the initial announcement. But in an e-mail, JYPE has revealed some of their cards and is planning to launch a new single and EP in the mean time. The new song is titled ’2 Different Tears’ and will be included on an 11 track EP filled with their past singles and remixes. Sure, it’s not a proper album but at least it’s something to appease the fans. The best part? If you ordered the album then you will get this EP free! You can read more details over at AKP.

Here’s the e-mail:
