Hot on the heels of Monday’s “What I Do” MV by J. Reyez comes “There For You”, his single featuring singer/dancer Lydia Peak, off his Broken HeArt mixtape. Radio Hip-Hop listeners probably recognize the same sample that went into Young Money’s “Bedrock” a couple years back. It was a good choice to drop a video for this song, as it’s one of the more pop-friendly tunes off the project, and it’s always good to see Lydia Paek outside the lens of her webcam videos.
Canada’s J R-E-Y-E-Z has released a new music video for his song “What I Do” – from his Broken HeArt mixtape of late 2011. I can’t say this was one of my favorite cuts from the tape, but the visuals are sharp and well produced – as to be expected from J. He’s got another video in the pipeline, expected to drop later this week, so stay tuned for that. Lyrics? Find em after the break.
Canada’s J. Reyez has posted up the visuals to the lead song off his Broken HeArt mixtape from last week, “Try Again”. Those paying attention should notice the cameos from a lot of artists including Emmalyn Estrada, Joseph Vincent, JRA, Lydia Paek & more. J has certainly been improving, I’m beginning to feel more of his songs than not, the present track included. Based on the video, it’s good to see that the rapper rolls in solid company too.
J. Reyez has finally dropped his new mixtape project, Broken HeArt. There’s several notable features on this 14 track release, including Jay Park, Lydia Paek, Toestah, Tommy C, Jin & more. If you want to check out the Lydia assisted song, you can find a YT clip after the break. Otherwise, you can get the mixtape a number of ways – either gratis via the couple different sites below, or if you want to support the guy you can purchase through Bandcamp. So kick off your Saturday with some new tunage.
With the release of his Broken HeArt mixtape approaching, J. Reyez has decided to leak a song off the project called “Everything”. His alcohol influenced, introspective rap is stronger than some of his other tracks – a trend I’ve been noticing from the Canadian rapper where his emotional songs are better than his lighter fare. Go ahead and DL the song for yourself, it’s free.
After first unveiling the cover art to his upcoming mixtape project early last month, Broken HeArt, J. Reyez has decided to change it up and will instead use the album art you see above. There were certainly elements I liked from the original, as it conveyed a number of different concepts though this rendition is admittedly much cleaner though more “Ed Hardy”-esque. Look for the mixtape album release in the not too distant future.
We knew the MV was coming, but I guess it also makes sense to drop the single before hand and that’s exactly what J. Reyez has done with his latest – “Work Hard”. The lead single off his upcoming Broken HeArt mixtape is now available in full from iTunes for your listening enjoyment. No word yet on when exactly the video and tape will drop. In the mean time, feel free to let us know what you think of the song in the comments below!
We’re not sure if the Broken HeArt mixtape is the previously announced My Life in Contrast project in a new form but regardless it appears to be J. Reyez’s main focus of promotion. Above is the recently shared album cover art – not too shabby, I like the concept. In addition, he’s posted up a very short preview of an upcoming MV for “Work Hard”. It appears to be a more introspective track, but you can rest assured we’ll have it up for you once it drops.
