What? Our headline is a lofty claim, but believe us, it’s not unsubstantiated. Chops has spent the past couple years working with a whole slew of artists that we cover – making this essentially a collection of the best of the best of folks that have graced the pages of this blog. Just take one look at the lineup on this album!
It’s called Strength in Numbers and I’ve known that this project was in the works for some time, but the sheer size of the roster for this album still blows my mind. And perhaps most amazing of all, this brings us the long overdue reunion of the OGs themselves, the Mountain Brothers. I personally can’t wait for this to drop. It’s slated for a December 2013 release.
If good ol’ Timmy De La Ghetto is to be believed, then this music video was never meant to see the light of day. On his Cruise Control mixtape, you can find a song that he did with R&B singer, Erika David. They apparently shot a music video for the track, but weren’t quite satisfied with the final product. But it appears that Traphik didn’t want to hold out on it any longer and presents it to you – even if it is a little rough around the edges in production value.
Happy Wednesday dearest a-Tunes readers! Our round-up today brings forth a baker’s dozen of covers, all filmed from the confines of some studio of a sort. Whether it’ a makeshift living room set up or the staple bedroom studio, we’ve got microphones and recording gear galore for you to gawk at as some of our favorite musicians put their talents to use in covering some well known tunes of old and new. The name of the game today is “duets”. In each of the following videos, not one, but two artists have come together to present a rendition their own unique rendition of a song. I say present because in one particular video, we have a dance choreo. Hope you enjoy these video of duos! Some are pretty listens, some are intense, and some are just plain hilarious.
Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man” and Rihanna’s “Stay” are two of the more popular songs at the moment – and for good reason. They are both well sung, soulful Pop/R&B ballads and our artists have taken notice too. Between the two songs, we have nearly a dozen covers to share with you. We’ve picked a couple of our favorites for you below, and you can find the rest after the break.
Pretty much everyone can appreciate a good duet. So tonight, we present 8 of them to you. That’s 16 different artists on 8 different songs, ranging from R&B to Hip-Hop to Musical OSTs. Not a bad way to kick off hump day, huh? I’m sure you’ll find the majority of these quite enjoyable.
We hope you all have had a great Christmas day/evening so far! Here are the last of the Christmas themed covers and remixes! Perhaps a few will trickle in here and there but this will be surely close to the last of it. We hope you are staying warm and surrounded by your loved ones this holiday season.
Ms Erika David is promoting her new holiday single, “You, This Christmas”. You can think of it as a Pop/R&B tune that draws it’s lyrical influences from Mariah Carey and other popular holiday tunes from over the years. Erika released the following video to give you something to watch as you listen. The song is available from the standard assortment of online music retailers.
Here’s a half dozen (+1) cover music videos for your mid-week sleep. We’ve got a couple double dip artists (Sam Tsui & Jason Chen), but just consider us playing catch up. Also, the Erika David video is a lot a fun, but it’s a shame it wasn’t exported in the correct aspect ratio. As for the AJ video… let’s just say proceed with caution. Anyway, we hope you enjoy and don’t forget the ones after the break!

So if you haven’t tired of hearing them yet, then you should check out these covers and remixes!
