It’s not a secret that the likes of J. Reyez, Jimmy Boi, Jargon, and Tommy C all relish each other’s company – so a collab from the artists is not only welcomed by many, it’s expected. The Hip-Hop and R&B artists aren’t about to disappoint their fans and are getting ready to drop a new song called “Bad One”. The MV teaser is below and is, in the words of Tommy, “for all the party people.”

J. Reyez Reveals ‘Wake Up Call’ EP Album Cover & Release Date

Well, it would seem another release has been given the old push-back, as the release date for J. Reyez’s next project, Wake Up Call, has been moved from late May to June 30th. Details indicate that this is not some quickly thrown together mixtape on Hulkshare/Mediafire, but rather an EP that will be available via digital distributors such as iTunes. Above is the current cover image, though any of the preceding information is subject to change.

J. Reyez Announces Next EP to Drop in Late May 2012 – ‘Wake Up Call’

J. Reyez always seems to be hard at work on a project, never letting things settle too long before moving on to the next item in the pipeline. With a simple, short tweet, he announced that his next EP, currently titled Wake Up Call, is scheduled to release late next month, May 2012. Of course, any of this information is subject to change, but for right now, JR fans needn’t wait much longer for new material from “the Korean Guy”.

J. Reyez Releases MV for “There For You” ft Lydia Paek
Hot on the heels of Monday’s “What I Do” MV by J. Reyez comes “There For You”, his single featuring singer/dancer Lydia Peak, off his Broken HeArt mixtape. Radio Hip-Hop listeners probably recognize the same sample that went into Young Money’s “Bedrock” a couple years back. It was a good choice to drop a video for this song, as it’s one of the more pop-friendly tunes off the project, and it’s always good to see Lydia Paek outside the lens of her webcam videos.

Canada’s J R-E-Y-E-Z has released a new music video for his song “What I Do” – from his Broken HeArt mixtape of late 2011. I can’t say this was one of my favorite cuts from the tape, but the visuals are sharp and well produced – as to be expected from J. He’s got another video in the pipeline, expected to drop later this week, so stay tuned for that. Lyrics? Find em after the break.
The Rihanna Youtube Covers Round-Up – 2/22/12
We’ve seen our fare share of Rihanna covers over the past couple of months, so it’s only fair that we make sure you’re kept in on the loop too. The following eight videos are all covers of the Pop/R&B princess from Barbados, ranging from complete remixes to simple webcam cover videos. The covers by Us, Jenny Suk & Michelle Martinez are particularly noteworthy, definitely standing out from the pack. Be sure to check em all out!

Michelle Martinez Covers “We Found Love”
Jargon x Gamble Collab for the “Be Cool” MV
While in Toronto, Jargon & Gamble shot a quick music video for their track “Be Cool”, with some help from J. Reyez & Tommy C behind the scenes (they had to keep everything in the family). It’s more of a Hip-Hop street video than a full-blown production, with everything shot literally on a street corner. If you’re feeling the track go ahead and add it to your playlist as it’s a free DL, here.
Showdown:J-Ricz x Sizzle vs D-Pryde & Friends vs J-Reyez x Tommy C & Friends
It’s time for a Showdown, where we have a little friendly comparison of artists that cover/remix the same songs and then vote for the one we think pulled it off better.
Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa’s “Young, Wild & Free” (featuring Bruno Mars) has been a pretty popular song on the radio the past few months – and it’s easy to see why with it’s catchy melody, easy hook and laid back raps. So we can’t say we’re too surprised to see a few remixes up on Youtube – making the song perfect candidate for our Showdown feature. What makes these remix/covers particularly interesting is that due to the nature of Youtube and copyright/licensing issues, each of the artists had the beat re-created to avoid being flagged on the flagship video streaming site; adding just an extra dashs of creativity and helping to keep each version distinct from the other.
J-Ricz x Sizzle
D-Pryde x Boogz Boogetz x Peter Kirk
J. Reyez x Tommy C x Tycoon x Hangman
So which group of artists had your flavor du jour? J-Ricz & Sizzle? D-Pryde & company? J. Reyez, Tommy C, and all the extra cameos? Don’t forget, you have so much power in your hands right now. Your vote will determine…. well, it only really determines who has the highest number of votes with no true qualitative value, but who cares! That’s what being Young, Wild & Free is all about right? Voting in a meaningless poll? Hello?… You still there?
Jargon Presents a “Modern Day Fairy Tale”
Jargon and his team have gone all out for their latest music video, a plot, acting and a whole bunch of cameos in supporting roles. Michelle Martinez, Tommy C., J.Reyez, Lil Crazed, Mike Musni, and whole lot more! That being said, it’s certainly one of the more entertaining MVs we’ve seen in a while. Check it out below.
Tommy C Releases the #CMIXTAPE

Reyez, Jargon, Lil Crazed, Maribelle Anes and more. In fact, there’s a new lyric video out for the track with Maribelle, “Snowflake”. So take a listen and download via the DatPiff widget below, and see what the singer can do outside of his group, IBU.
