Bom Siu aka Mondega comes out of the woodwork to share a new track called “California”. It’s a heartfelt joint that I found to be a good song to sit, listen and just vibe too on this late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. It’s about that time for 19 fresh tracks from Mondega via a little project he’s put together called mtape. This is a follow up release to his Food Clothing & Love album. Wow, Mondega really can’t seem to stop leaking tracks! It’s another new joint and called “Life Love Loyalty” featuring Aviator on the hook and production. This particular release has a little bit more of a classic boom-bap type of feel, complete with a simple chanted chorus. Here’s another soulful sample flip from Mondega called “Lost in a Masquerade”, speaking to the complicated dynamics and challenges that accompanies coming up in the music game. As per Mon’s usual style, the track has a personal touch that helps keep it grounded along with the smooth instrumental. Gotta commend the guy for his ear for beats. Another strong release from the MC.

Here’s his latest joint – “All I Got Is Myself”, another soulful, introspective track from the veteran rapper (and self produced as well!). Rapper Mondega recently made an appearance on regional Southern California channel Kababayan LA along with his manager and author Lac Su. They talk a little bit with the host and touch briefly upon his introduction to music, how he markets himself and what the art means to him. At the end of the clip you can catch a snippet of him performing his latest single “Superman”.
Not sure how we let this one slip by, but for those who missed it – Mondega‘s latest album, Food, Clothing & Love has officially dropped. The 15 track release includes the lead single “Music for the People” featuring Bambu, for which they dropped the MV back in April. The latest LP by the Southern rapper is available on both iTunes & Amazon, so be sure to pick it up today.
In addition, Mon has also released a new MV for the follow up single off the album – “Superman”. This one is a lot simpler though the strength lies not in the visuals but the song anyhow. It’s a soulful recap of his family’s trials and tribulations and definitely a great single to promote. True, the MV could have used higher production values but I suppose that’s not the focus of the track.
Carolina’s Mondega has a new song out called “Trophy Home” featuring S. Gold. I’m a sucka for soul samples in Hip-Hop songs so I’m definitely digging the beat. It’s a pretty solid track overall but I’m not sure if it’s a part of his upcoming Food, Clothing, Love project. No matter thought, because this track is available as a free DL this very moment.
Check the latest drop from Mondega, it’s the MV for “Music for the People” off his upcoming Food Love Clothing album. The track features LA representative Bambu and it’s another strong release from the both of em. Everything from the visuals, to the production, to the flow is real polished here. Getting Bam to jump on the record was a good look too cause he fit the style perfectly. Looking forward for the full album to drop!

Here’s another leak off the upcoming Food, Clothing and Love album by Mondega. This one’s called “Say Hi” and the biggest thing I gotta say is that the beat selection is superb here. The southern MC definitely seems to be stepping up his game, consistently releasing strong tracks the last few times. A good sign of things to come if the rest of the album turns out like this.
