Adam WarRock Releases “WIZZYWIG”

If there’s anything that can be said about Adam WarRock, it’s that he’s consistent. Living up to his label of a comic book rapper, the former lawyer turned MC has released a song inspired by Ed Piskor’s graphic novel, WIZZYWIG. AW likes to keep things classic, cause when he drops a single, he does it proper – with a B-side. The songs can be had via the Bandcamp widget, below!

Me and Mikal kHill were lucky enough to work with Top Shelf Comics & Ed Piskor(American Splender, Hip Hop Family Tree) to help get word out about his upcoming book WIZZYWIG. Ed’s created a graphic novel gathered from the stories of the most infamous real-life hackers. The first track was featured in this video trailer for the comic, which was featured on BoingBoing and other sites.

We did a little remix w/ int80 of Dual Core, and kHill hopped on the vox. Then I put a b-side I did with Joules after SXSW. The original “WIZZYWIG” song featured in the trailer is free for download, the other songs can be purchased individually, or the all 3 tracks can be had for $2.

Adam Warrock Releases the ‘Neo-Tokyo’ EP

Akira is a classic anime film that is arguably one of the most influential works for the genre. It would make sense that Adam Warrock would put together an EP based on it, and the final result is called Neo-Tokyo. He’s even put together a video with footage from the movie for the single “…Is About to Explode”, which you can view directly below. The EP is available from the bandcamp widget, for your streaming and purchasing convenience.

Adam WarRock Drops a “Sex Bob-Omb”

If you haven’t seen Scott Pilgrim vs The World… well then you should because it’s an awesome, nerdy but visually well-done film. The song is an obvious reference the film, and contains a prominent sample from the track of the same name, “Sex Bob-Omb”. AW got Joules to flip the sample and bring you the remix you hear now. Check out the clip too, although it’s kind of a mini-spoiler, it shows off some of the best action moments from the movie.

The Videoless Youtube Remixes Round-Up 5/3/12

We did it before, a couple months back; bringing you a collection of remixes done by artists that chose to forgo creating a video too. Instead we get a mixture of static images, cover art, and if we’re lucky, a slide show of some type. This has been a staple of the digital age for Hip-Hop artists, as it’s too time consuming to make a video for all their mixtape-ready songs – whether or not you feel they are cutting corners is a completely different story. At the very least you can listen to the following in the background, knowing your not missing much by not paying attention to the (lack of) visuals!

Adam WarRock Discusses Quitting Law for Music on YOMYOMF

In a guest post earlier this month for You Offend Me You Offend My Family (affectionately known as YOMYOMF), Adam WarRock shares about his experiences growing up in an immigrant household, excelling in academics, and his stint as a practicing attorney before ultimately switching gears altogether and pursuing his current vocation in music. You may know him know as your favorite comic-book rapper, but he’s definitely had an interesting path in getting here. The post is definitely one of those articles you should check out, as AW breaks down how he ended up in music and what ultimately pushed him to abandon Law. Catch the entire article over at YOMYOMF.

Adam WarRock Releases the ‘Ghostal’ EP

Adam WarRock has put together yet another short EP based on a niche pop culture interest of his, Space Ghost. It’s a three track release called Ghostal, and if you’re ready to take the jump to the Cartoon Network inspired body of work, then click here to download. If you want to learn more about the EP and find links to the Youtube streams of the tracks, here.

Hey there. Adam WarRock here, again. The guy that made that Browncoats Mixtape thing, or the Parks & Rec EP thing, or I dunno, that guy who hates mayonnaise. I just finished a month and a half straight of traveling, and I got on this kick of watching old Adult Swim shows to fall asleep, when I was in hotel rooms or curled up on someone’s couch or sleeping in a dumpster (finding dumpsters near AC adapters…. The worst). It’s funny, because I think ever since Adult Swim was ubiquitous in the geeky scene, it’s always been a weird comfort in every phase of my life, from college, to grad school, to work, and now, to touring as a musician. So I just spun a few tracks off of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, and wanted to make a little homage to Williams Street, for being that kind of comfort. Thanks guys. You rock.

Adam WarRock x Joules Release “The Occupation”

Everyone’s favorite comic book rapper, Adam WarRock decided to stray from the various niche, pop-culture topics for this new song with Joules, and instead went for something a little more general. As an ode to his life as a touring musician, WarRock & Joules present “The Occupation”. In an almost meta-type-of-story, the track was written, recorded, and birthed while on tour – it really couldn’t get any more appropriate. You can name your price for this offering, via Bandcamp.

Somewhere on some highway, me and Joules (beatmaker of Papercutters & Dangling Headphones EP) wrote this song. Somewhere along the way, we found time to actually record it during tour. We literally wrote this song while in the car, with our laptops out while driving. Well, not WHILE driving. When the other was driving.  You get it.

Download it for free, or drop a dollar in the bucket, or feel free to donate something if you want to. It’s all love, baby:.

It’s a song about touring. Written while touring. Recorded while touring. And I hope you guys enjoy it.

The Videoless Youtube Remixes Round-Up 3/6/12

If there’s one thing rappers love to do, it’s dropping remixes. Now, everyone is taking the extra step to differentiate themselves by putting together full music videos for their remixes, but the easy way out is to throw some cover art or an image over the track and post it to Youtube. That’s exactly what’s been done here. All the songs are pre-recorded, studio-esque quality songs, most available as a free DL, but there is hardly a visual to match – effectively turning Youtube into a new school jukebox. At least Jin took it a half step further and threw some lyrics up on one of his videos! (To be fair, I prefer this over the webcam rap videos…)

Adam WarRock Features for Kirby Krackle on “Booty Do Math”

If you’re still awake on 5:30 AM (EST) on a Wednesday morning, I don’t think this video is going to help you with your insomnia at all. But hey, it might make more sense to you half-asleep then it did to me wide-awake… but there is something oddly entertaining about this one. Adam WarRock joins Kirby Krackle for their ridiculous song “Booty Do Math”. The animated video is as equally bizarre… but I can’t seem to look away. I swear there is some odd subliminal frames in there.
