This could be our biggest round-up yet. We’ve got more music videos of covers and remixes for you, so no one-take-sessions or studio sessions here. These are those Youtube videos where the audio and video were done at different times, requiring that much more work to bring you just a few minutes of entertainment a piece. So if you’ve got some time to kill, go through this playlist of 14 (yes, FOURTEEN) MVs across various genres. Which ones are your favorites?
Now this is a pretty cool watch. Sometimes good things take time to come to fruition. Such is the case with the music video to “Dreamers” from afterschoolspecial‘s album, It’s All In Your Head. For this music video, they enlisted the new “it” team of the moment, The Dreamlapse Project to create a fun visual in the first person format a la Prodigy. And to help with the project, they’ve gotten everyone to make a cameo and join along for the ride. When I say everyone, I mean everyone. Check out the notes after the video below for the complete list of talent as well as a link to the BTS post.
Thanks so much to Daniel and Scott from The Dreamlapse Project for partnering up on this music video. We first started talking about this project almost a year ago, and to see it finally come together with the finished project is a beautiful thing. They really went above and beyond to get this video done so high five to them. Also a HUGE thanks to everyone who made a cameo in the video. Thanks for giving of your time to take part in what i see as such a community collaboration. Inspiring. Cathy Nguyen, Aj Rafael, David Choi, Jason Chen, Jennifer Chung, Joseph Vincent, Toestah, Arika Sato, Kevin Lien, Dawen, Paul Dateh, Andi Terada, Geo and Chuck of Instant Noodles Crew, Wong Fu Productions, and Ryan Higa. Another important note is this video is that NONE of this would be possible without the backing and work of afterschoolspecial who need their due credit- Jaylen Green, Keane Aranita, Todd Olson, Brian Figueroa, and Victor Velasquez.
The great folks at the Jubilee Project always tends to put together great videos, focusing on amazing themes and causes. Their latest project puts some of our favorite artists and Youtube stars on the spot, asking them what is important to them and what they would like to see change and happen in this world. There is a ton of talent in this clip, and it encourages you to join the conversation – perhaps in the hope that once we talk about it, we just might be able to take the next step and do something about it.
For the new year, The Jubilee Project took some time to interview some YT friends about the changes that they would like to see in the world. We really believe that life is a gift and ordinary people can do extraordinary things. We hope that this video encourages you to live life to the fullest this year and be the change you want to see in the world.
Twitter us @jubileeproject with your responses #BetheChange – What is one thing you’d like to see changed in the world? What is one organization/cause you feel strongly about? What would you do if you had one last day to live?
Special thanks to BU CSA Takeout and all of the YT stars that took part in this video.
Come check out the year DANakaDAN and afterschoolspecial has had with their new montage video set to “Horizon”, a cut from their album It’s All In Your Head. It’s a cool watch and a dope way to recap the year. We’re hoping 2012 will be that much more exciting for the group and it’s lead, Dan.
Wow. It’s insane to think that the original Kollaboration is already at it’s 11th show. This year’s festivities in LA is ramping up as the show date quickly approaches – November 5th. The line-up includes a mixture of new faces … Continue reading →
If there were a short list of MUST SEE events this year, ISA Festival LA 2011 certainly makes it near the top right up there with Kollaboration. The line up is absolutely ridiculous! You got FM, Jay Park, Wong Fu, David Choi, … Continue reading →
“Not One for Words” has always been one of my favorite tracks from the San Diego band afterschoolspecial. The understated acoustic guitar instrumental layered with DANakaDAN’s off-kilter rock-rap flow makes for a pretty good combination and this short MV is another strong companion to the single off their album It’s All In Your Head (and originally from their Not One for Words EP). Look closely and you can spot the other band members in the video as well.
There’s really not a whole lot to say except if you’re in SoCal tomorrow (the 22nd) then you want to be sure to make your way to the 10th Avenue Theater in San Diego. One of our favorite apparel brands, My Ninja Clothing, is hosting an event headlined by Kero One, afterschoolspecial, IAMMEDIC, and DJ Peter Rocks himself. I totally wish I could be there too but it’s on the wrong coast. The posted says part 1 of 2, so be on the lookout for another blowout event this summer! Deets after the break.
The front man for afterschoolspecial has dropped a pretty dope acoustic remix of his band’s own song “Forever” from their EP Not One for Words. This was filmed at the University of Michigan last month and features Mike & Humphrey. This remix has a completely different feel from the original, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I really enjoyed this switch up. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the sound found in Tupac’s acoustic rendition of “Thugz Mansion”:
Here’s a quickie drop from afterschoolspecial‘s frontman and MC, Dan aka Dan. This is meant to be a parody & spoof of the now infamous “Asians in the Library” Youtube rant by Alexandra Wallace. Personally I’m well past over the whole situation as I could really do is shake my head at Wallace’s misguided, ignorant attempt at humor and move on. Oh well, if you’re still caught up in the drama you may appreciate this ditty from Dan.
