April Chase Loses Member, Preparing New Albums

It’s been some time since we last heard from the Bay Area band, April Chase. Unfortunately their latest public update comes with a bit of mixed news. Their guitarist, Mark Sahagun (2nd from right in the photo), has decided to step down from the band for personal reasons. However, the collective is still at work, cooking up two upcoming EP’s, a 6 song Acoustic release and a full band album as well. It’s always tough when a group has to go through a change in membership though we are excited to hear the upcoming tunes.

The Youtube Collab Round-Up – 1/31/12

We figured why not end the last day of the first month with a new batch of Youtube covers. This round-up is another sampling platter of collaborations among different artists. There’s a lot of acoustic music in this particular grouping, with one particular exception. As always, the production qualities vary wildly but there should be something for everyone to enjoy.

The Unplugged Youtube Covers Round-Up – 10/7/11

We figure we’d kick off the start of the weekend on this beautiful Friday with a round-up of (mostly) acoustic covers that have recently graced everyone’s favorite video sharing site. We got renditions of some newer hits along with some classic throwback jams, giving you a decent mix of tunage. April Chase returns with a Foster the People cover, Nessa x Krystle x Karol give an impressively harmonious performance of a Tamia classic, Sam Tsui takes on Adele, Esther Lee continues to represent her Faith with a Third Day number, Kaile Goh drops a rock mash up, XOXO goes back in time for a Blaque track, and Meesh switches up a Lil Wayne joint. All in all, there’s a lot of great music here, check em all out!

April Chase Performs “Time Won’t Tell” For MYX TV

For those (such as myself) who haven’t had the opportunity to check out April Chase live, this could be the next best thing. MYX TV has uploaded the band’s in-studio performance of “Time Won’t Tell” from their EP Still Breathing that dropped earlier this year. Oddly enough, I didn’t find it to be quite as charming as the first time I heard it in the unplugged performance they recorded with The Mighty Fifty a while back. Go figure.

[Live Performance] April Chase – “All You Need to Say”

If you haven’t checked out April Chase‘s new EP – Still Breathing - you should because you’re missing out on songs like “All You Need to Say”. In this live session clip you get to hear the single in a completely unplugged rendition – scaling back the sound a little bit but retaining it’s Pop/Rock charm. I love video clips like these, when they are well shot/edited but doesn’t sacrifice the rawness of a live set.

April Chase Releases the Still Breathing EP

There you have it. The day has finally come for the release of April Chase‘s new EP Still Breathing - produced, mixed and mastered by Jesse Barrera.  Once again, if you’re the type to try before you buy you can do so here. If you’re ready to pull the trigger and get your own copy for your playlist, the album is officially available on iTunes and AmazonMP3. It’s a strong mini-album, don’t sleep on this one!

April Chase’s Still Breathing EP Up for Free Streaming

Even though the EP album is only a couple days away from release (April 22nd), April Chase has decided to post up the entirety of Still Breathing for free streaming on bandcamp. You can hear all 6 tracks in full, most of which we’ve gotten previews of over the course of the past couple months. Scanning through them now, I gotta say Jesse Barrera has done a bang-up job on the production and mastering – it’s definitely a solid sounding release. See what we mean by listening to it via the widget below.

New Preview from April Chase Off Their Upcoming Still Breathing EP – “Time Won’t Tell”

At this point April Chase has successfully gotten me to anxiously await the release of their EP Still Breathing, produced by Jesse Barrera. We still got another month to go (April 22nd) but here’s yet another sneak peek, this time of their infectious single “Time Won’t Tell“. Just as the rest of them, this one sounds great and should be a winner when it finally drops.

Jenny Suk & Tim Ferguson (of April Chase) Cover “Who You Are” by Jessie J

Personally I like it that these Youtube artists are stepping their cover videos up and implementing upgraded visuals. This particular example features Jenny Suk singing her heart out and Tim Ferguson (of April Chase fame) providing the six-string back up. There are times where the song seems a bit too big for Jenny but at the end of the day she does an admirable job, plus I can always dig a stripped down, unplugged rendition of a song.
