The Non-HD Youtube Covers Round-Up – 3/19/12

It wasn’t too long ago that the majority of the videos we saw on Youtube were grainy, low resolution videos taken from webcams, compact cameras, and cell phones. But now, these types of videos are almost a minority as many artists have moved on to newer video recording devices. Even still, there are a few hold outs that are sticking to their tried and true capturing methods and the following round-up is a collection of such clips. So if things look dim and blurry, no worries, it’s not your screen, it’s just some out-dated technology!

August Rigo Discusses the Industry, His Upcoming Album, Family/Personal Life & More with FoundAsians

This may be the most in-depth interview we’ve come across yet concerning potential big star on the rise, August Rigo. After signing the dotted line on a huge distribution/publishing deal, and penning some of the biggest songs from the past couple of years, Rigo finally finds himself in a position to make moves under his own name with his upcoming album, Planes, Trains and Automobiles. He talks about his music, the grind, his family & love life and a heck of a lot more. Check the interview out in full over at FoundAsians.

August Rigo Presents Visuals for “Kill Me”

August Rigo has been an artist on the rise, especially in the past year where he released the mixtape Too Big to Fail. One of the cuts off the album was “Kill Me”, which now has been given a quick video. It doesn’t appear too much effort was put into this clip, as it’s just footage of August walking around the city, but I suppose any excuse to listen to his music is a fair one, right?

Showdown: Erika David vs Tommy C vs August Rigo

Welcome to another episode of Showdown, where we have a little friendly comparison of artists that cover/remix the same songs and then vote for the one we think pulled it off better.

Today brings us a battle of Pop/R&B sings taking on the seemingly infallible Usher. Erika David, Tommy C of IBU, and August Rigo each tackle the current Top 40 hit by David Guetta and Usher, “Without You”. Each artist chose to do something slightly different with their clips with Erika taking the conventional sing with the mic route, Tommy C taking the opportunity to thank his fans, and August recreating the instrumental to give it a small twist.

An Unplugged Performance of “Kill Me” by August Rigo

Singer/songwriter star on the rise, August Rigo, has posted up a performance clip of his song “Kill Me” off his recent Too Big to Fail mixtape from last month. This particular rendition is of the unplugged variety, featuring nothing but Rigo and his trusty keyboard. The dude sounds great and only serves to re-enforce the idea that he deserves every bit of that Island Def Jam deal he inked earlier this year.

Wanna Learn More About August Rigo? Check Out His EPK

EPK’s are always something of a mixed bag. On one hand, you can get an unprecedented look at an artist and find out more about who they are and why they do what they do. However, you have to keep in mind it’s sanctioned by the artist themselves – meaning it’s filtered through the eyes of their team. So sure, it’s a bit self congratulatory but the following clip is an awesome way to get to know August Rigo. It ain’t easy to impress LA Reid and get signed!

August Rigo Drops ‘Too Big To Fail’

Canada’s August Rigo is one the quickest rising artists doing it right now, and he’s just released a mixtape titled Too Big To Fail. He’s written for artists like Bieber and is part of the BMI family. The singer’s project includes a feature from Prizzy, among others, not to mention a drop from Busta! The singer certainly has developed a fair amount of industry buzz for himself, now you find out why. Stream it below to check it out or download it in it’s entirety from his website.

D-Pryde x August Rigo Release the “Big Shot” MV Directed by Rik Cordero

This is yet another collaboration between Prizzy and director Rik Cordero. It’s a good look to have him in this corner because the visuals for the August Rigo assisted “Big Shot” are on point – but I suppose that’s only to be expected from the seasoned videographer. The song has a more R&B/Drake-ish type of feel to it though it’s kind of refreshing to hear a mellowed out D who typically spits with an aggressive tenacity.

D-Pryde x August Rigo Remix FM’s “Rocketeer” [Free DL]

D-Pryde has been releasing a slew of remixes and covers on Youtube, but his latest featuring August Rigo where they remix FM’s Rocketeer was one of my favorites. To be 100% frank I’m starting to get to the point where I’m tired of hearing so many remixes of the awesome song but I guess I have room for one more. D does a good job on the verses as expected, and August Rigo does a fairly decent job covering Ryan Tedder’s vocals. He adds a touch of Weezy to the sound. Last but not least, it’s a free DL.
