“But I Will, Everyday” is a song that Big Phony describes as “ a demo of a song I wrote for my future wife”. He’s put together a music video for the track (that we first heard in 09) that makes use a stop motion style for much of the video – which I’d argue was a great artistic choice. Glad to see that he’s continuing to make those moves while in the Motherland!

Big Phony Premieres Music Video for “I Love Lucy”
Those with a good memory and appreciation for acoustic folk-pop may recall the 2010 album by Big Phony called Kicking Punching Bags. Well Bobby Choy has had some big life changes since then, making the move from LA to Korea and resetting his career. That brings us to today, where we have the official music video for “I Love Lucy”, from the 09 project. They took things in a great retro-styled direction (with a few crazy twists thrown in), paying homage/satire to the pop culture references in the song. It’s been too long since we last heard from BP but this is a good start for making amends.

Big Phony Pens the Theme Song for the Korean Film “My Way”, Sung by Andrea Bocelli

Bobby Choy, better known to most as Big Phony, has revealed via Facebook that the theme (“To Find My Way”), to an upcoming Korean film, My Way, was written by the South Korean transplant by way of LA. The song was recorded by the much admired classical vocalist, Andrea Bocelli. He’s been keeping this under wraps for a while now but we’re glad to hear about this awesome opportunity for Choy. The film debuts in South Korea this month!
I guess the word is out. Been holding this in for some time now.
I wrote the lyrics to an Andrea Bocelli song called “To Find My Way”. It’s the theme song to the Korean movie “MY WAY” which releases in a couple of weeks. I believe it will also be available on his new album releasing next week.
So grateful for the opportunity, so humbled. Hearing Andrea Bocelli sing words I wrote for him was one of those moments in my life where I truly felt speechless and honored. I feel incredibly blessed.
Big Phony Sings “Goodbye, CA” [Free DL]

Normally we probably wouldn’t share a song recorded via iPhone but we thought this was a notable exception. Bobby Choy, better known to most of you as Big Phony, has recently uprooted himself and flown across the world and made a new home in his motherland of Korea. It would appear that he’s going to be living there for quite some time and in honor of his home of nearly the past decade, he’s penned and recorded “Goodbye, CA”. Big Phony has always had a penchant for crafting calm but heartfelt tunes and I think the fact this was recorded in an empty room in Seoul really hits the point home – he’s not in California anymore. It’s a free DL via soundcloud.

David Choi, AJ Rafael, Big Phony and Paul Dateh Lend Their Voices For New WongFu Short
Taking a step back from their trademark music video work and goofy vlogs, Wong Fu makes their return to the dramatic front with a new short entitled ‘When Five Fell’. Although we are enthusiastic fans of Wong Fu, you may be asking why is this featured on a-Tunes? Well, it’s because musicians David Choi, AJ Rafael, Big Phony, and Paul Dateh are all involved in voice over work.
They lend their voices to breathe life into inanimate objects that expresses what it’s like to be neglected when once so cherished. David is a pair of glasses, Big Phony is a telephone, AJ is an umbrella, and Paul is a scarf. Personally I thought Paul evoked emotion the best but overall it’s a truly interesting video and everyone did a great job.
