Big Phony x The Mighty Fifty Releases ‘Short Intermission’ MV

As we mentioned earlier, Big Phony & The Mighty Fifty have teamed up to create BP’s latest MV for his single ‘Short Intermission’, one of my favorites from his album Kicking Punching Bags. I really enjoyed the pacing and acting elements of this video, something you don’t see as often now a days. The actors did a fairly decent job portraying the ups and downs of a relationship without ever actually audibly saying anything. It’s all very… real and down to earth, and above all refreshing.

All in all, a great combination of song and video. Props to everyone involved.

The Might Fifty Releases MV Trailer for Big Phony’s “Short Intermission”

Big Phony, who released Kicking Punching Bags earlier this year, has teamed up with frequent collaborator The Mighty Fifty for a music video to his single ‘Short Intermission’ off said album. TMF always does great work and it looks like they went all out on this one with a cast and various locations. It looks like it may be an emotional one so be prepared.

Big Phony Interviewed by Steve Nguyen & ChannelAPA

You don’t come across too many interviews of Big Phony but Steve Nguyen is helping change that and recently sat down to sit with the artist and talk about a few subjects. Just a warning, the video volume is on the softer side so you may need to turn this one up to here it properly. Big Phony is a soft spoken guy but seems to be very earnest and honest in his answers. A great interview and a big recommendation for all you BP fans out there.

Also check out the extended interview with ChannelAPA!

Full description after the break.

That’s right folks. If you hear the Summer tape from 09, it was a fun collection of songs that most notably birthed the great single ‘The F.R.E.S.H.‘. But Peter Rocks and company is back at it again and are set to bring you an acoustic mixtape for Spring 2010 in March.

Check out the previews featuring Big Phony. (Dude is kinda awkward haha).

Big Phony Releases ‘Kicking Punching Bags’

The new album from Big Phony, Kicking Punching Bags, has finally dropped and is available starting today on iTunes and via his online store.

So the new Big Phony album “Kicking Punching Bags” has officially dropped today (1/26/10).  Not by any official standard really.  It’s just a date I came up with.  The album is now available on iTunes and on other safe and popular downloading sites.  iTunes has these cool options where you can share the album on your Facebook and Twitter, or even “gift a friend” (wink wink).  You can also purchase a physical copy (first 100 signed by Big Phony) of the album off the site here.

There are some pretty cool bundle options so def give them some consideration if you have a couple extra bucks to spend.

Check after the jump for more information about the new album.

Big Phony Performs ‘Fix or Providence’

Big Phony has released his latest performance video, this time singing ‘Fix or Providence. The song is inspired by his difficulties returning to his family in the East Coast because he lives in California and sometimes he questions whether he is doing enough to make his family proud.

As with most Big Phony pieces, this song is slow, calm, but intriguing and moving at the same time.  I’m digging how its juxtaposed against the bright and vibrant Christmas lights in the background as he wanders the streets singing. And The Mighty Fifty’s video production is on point as always.

I can’t wait till his album ‘Kicking Punching Bags’ releases.

Priscilla Ahn x KoreAm Live Show Posted

KoreaAm has put together another live chat session/broadcast show, this time featuring the amazingly talented Priscilla Ahn. The show was hosted by Big Phony (who had his own show a couple months back) and included guest musician Wendy Wang of The Sweet Hurt. I was only able to catch a short part of it last night but they’ve thankfully posted the show in it’s entirety for you to stream. I’m loving how much easier it is to connect artists and fans these days.

Last night’s web show with Priscilla Ahn was magical. Her voice was heavenly and her sweet, giggly personality was infectious. I have a girl-crush, I’ll admit it. She had me at “curmudgeon-y.”

If you couldn’t catch the live performance, you can replay it in its entirety right here. (You can also access it from our KoreAm LIVE page at any time.) The most breathtaking song, in my opinion, was “Holy, Holy, Holy,” which Priscilla played with Big Phony and The Sweet Hurt. Scroll to about 00:46:00 to listen. Like I said, magical.

Just wanted to thank all the talented people for making this show possible (these live chats appear super casual but they’re actually run by a pretty massive crew): the wonderful Priscilla Ahn (of course), our rockstar host Big Phony, vocalist/keyboardist Wendy Wang of The Sweet Hurt, the team at Future Rockstars of America, Peter of My Ninja Clothing and Charles and Justin of The Mighty Fifty. I know people always say, “We couldn’t have done it without you” but we really couldn’t have done it without you.

Cheers everyone!

Big Phony Behind the Music Footage Released

Some behind the scenes footage of Big Phony has been released today. Here’s the blurb:

This is the One Shot Behind The Scenes Behind The Music Making of Big Phony’s “The Wait Is Over” directed by Justin Fong.

It’s a short, one minute-ish clip but it’s always great to see musicians do their thing and get a glimpse of how things come together before we hear it on our headphones.
