Marie Digby Releases the Trailer for Breathing Underwater Mini-Series

Marie Digby has been hinting about this project for some time but has finally broken the silence. She has a new web mini-series coming out entitled Breathing Underwater (same name as her most recent album) that will air on ABC Music Lounge starting today, Thursday July 1st. This is an awesome accomplishment and I look forward to seeing how it will play out.

This movie is loosely based on what I went through during the making of my album and why I was inspired to write the songs which are on Breathing Underwater. I hope you enjoy the sneak peek ;)

Critic’s Corner: Marie Digby – Breathing Underwater

Marie Digby really gained a lot of attention through her acoustic cover of ‘Umbrella’ on Youtube back in 2007. Since that time she released an album in 2008, gotten numerous TV song placements, started modeling a little bit,  and even released some work in Japan (her mother is Japanese). With her sophomore US effort Breathing Underwater, Marie Digby is out to prove she belongs to stay and isn’t an artist riding out 15 minutes of internet fueled flame. Personally, I really enjoyed her debut album Unfold and was highly anticipating her new release. Originally slated to drop in the first half of 2009, it was pushed back to the fall, causing a long wait for her fans.

So was Breathing Underwater worth the wait? Let’s find out!

Marie Digby Releases Live Performance Video of ‘Feel’

Marie Digby, who released her sophomore album last month, has posted up a live performance video of her single ‘Feel’.

Honestly, I prefer this type of instrumentation over the album version. It’s a stripped down arrangement and allows the melody and her vocals to shine more. Which version do you guys think is better?

PS, a review of the album is still coming… I promise =)

Marie Digby ‘Breathing Underwater’ Now Available

Marie Digby‘s heavily delayed album ‘Breathing Underwater’ is now available starting today. I’ve listened quickly through some of it and it’s a more pop-oriented record than her last release ‘Unfold’. Hope to have a review up relatively soon!

You can also check out the music video for the single ‘Avalanche’, although much of it is rehashed footage from her Japanese release of the single ‘Feel’.

Free DL of Marie Digby’s ‘Symphony’ from Amazon MP3

Marie Digby’s track ‘Symphony’ from her soon to be released album ‘Breathing Underwater’ is currently a free download from Amazon MP3. Jump on the chance now though because it won’t last long, its only free for a week! [edit 9/2/09] Scratch that, looks like the promotion is over =(. Sorry to those who missed it![/edit]

The track is well produced and catchy though the writing is the kind of vague cheese found in American Idol coronation singles. But you can’t argue with the price and at least Marie still sound great.

Marie Digby releases Japanese MV for ‘Feel’

Marie Digby has released the new (Japanese Release) music video for her single ‘Feel’ from her upcoming album ‘Breathing Underwater’. The song has a very Apologize (ala One Republic) type of feel. I’m no expert on her song catalog but it’s the most “pop produced” sounding record I’ve heard from her so far.

The video itself is cool but a little dull. What do you think? I also wonder what her first American single is going to be.

News Quickies 4-13-09 Edition

So I hate resorting to the quickies but I’m tired and want to get some stuff out there soooo

  • ChannelAPA reports on WongFu & David Choi teaming up for DC’s first music video for his single ‘Wont Even Start’. Their vlog video teaser is actually hilarious in a very toungue in cheek, dry type of way.
  • EXP recently posted two myspace bulletins hinting that a couple of UFC fighters are considering using his music for their entrances. An unexpected but great thing to hear for the Movement crew MC.
  • Marie Digby has posted some bad news and good news on her myspace. First, her upcoming album ‘Breathing Underwater’ has been leaked online. Secondly, her lead single ‘Avalanche’ will be playing on tonight’s episode of ‘The Hills’.
  • AAM reports that under-the-radar acoustic artist Kevin So has just released a new album entitled ‘Best Foot Forward’. Kevin’s been in the game forever and deserves some limelight.
  • AllKPOP has an update on Yoo Seung Jun’s jump to the silver screen.
  • YG’s cash cows Big Bang and newbie group 2NE1 has been featured on Perez’s website with their single ‘Lollipop’ as he continues to dive into KPOP fandom. I gotta admit, it’s stupidly catchy.
