Mike Isberto Releases ‘The Last Train’ EP

Mike Isberto has made his return with the release of his new EP, The Last Train. Mike recruited a few friends to help out with the records, including Cathy Nguyen and Nessa Rica, among others. For those keeping score, he gave everyone a little preview of what to expect a week and half ago. We hope to have an album review of this 6-song release (along with a couple other albums) out sometime this Holiday weekend.

The Covers by Duets Youtube Round-Up 5/17/12

Two can play at that game? What game? I dunno, I just wanted to introduce the concept of two. Deuce. Double. 1+1. Snake Eyes. Duets. Because that’s what we’ve rounded-up for you today. This is all about about two musical artists covering songs both new and old and giving you two subjects to see and hear. This would have been more appropriate for a “Twos”day…. OK, sorry about that. Enjoy!

Melissa Polinar x Cathy Nguyen x Nessa Rica Sing “Say You’ll Stay”

Meslissa Polinar, Cathy Nguyen, and Nessa Rica once again team up to sing another M. Polinar original – “Say You’ll Stay” from her late 2010 album, the As of Now EP. This is another video from the same series that brought us their collaborative cover of “Meant to Be”. We already knew the girls sound great together, and this only reinforces the point. Speaking of collaborative groups, I wonder what ever happened to Blyss?

The Songs of Faith Youtube Round-Up 5/8/12

Music is a powerful tool as any for expression, and what better aspect of life to express than one’s faith? That’s what the following group of musicians decided to do, covering songs by Vineyard, Shane & Shane, Laura Story, Hillsong and more. Jeremy Passion, Cathy Nguyen, Jayesslee, Arden Cho, Esther Lee and Erin Kim use the gifts they were blessed with to bless others. The first two clips in particular have fantastic harmonies.

Cathy Nguyen, Nessa Rica, Melissa Polinar Sing “Meant to Be”

It’s hard to ask for more than good friend and good music, especially when it’s all experienced concurrently. Melissa Polinar‘s “Meant to Be” seems to be something of a singer’s song, and lucky for us, she, Cathy Nguyen and Nessa Rica decided to re-visit Polinar’s throwback jam and put their own fresh little spin on it, complete with harmonies. This is the perfect track to unwind to this evening after a long day’s worth of work.

Just ‘Cause: See the Trailer to UPLOADED: The Asian American Movement

In July of last year, we shared with you a documentary that was in the works called Uploaded: The Asian American Movement. Now, all these months later, the film is complete and ready for it’s premiere at the Los Angeles Pan Asian Pacific Film Festival. You can now view the trailer, which gives us a look at all the interviews and the overlying focus of this film – a movement that is near and dear to our hearts at a-Tunes. Check out all the additional information after the break, and if you’re in LA, don’t miss the premiere on May 16th!

Why? Just ‘Cause.

Snapshot: Cathy Nguyen Shows Off the Size of Her Guns

Cathy Nguyen

Recently, Cathy Nguyen showed off this fun/silly picture of her impressive muscles. Who would have known the tiny starlet was packing such heat!? Displaying her own guns at the gun range – nothing wrong with that. Someone should cast her in a perfect push-up ad or other exercise infomercial. #LilCDawgBeastMode

The Performance Covers Youtube Round-Up – 3/29/12

It’s early Thursday here on the East, but it seemed just as good a time as any for another round-up batch. Today’s common denominator is that all of these videos are performance clips. Now that does’t necessarily mean each of these was shot in front of an audience, although some were; rather it simply means there is no lip-sync involved. The audios are comprised of a single take, though some of the the video footage is via multi-camera set-ups. That being said, you have an assortment of performance stages ranging from a bedroom to a full-scale live audience. Just for good measure, we’ve thrown in a clip that blew us away from a Korean singing competition. Check it out at the end, you won’t regret it!

Snapshot: David So, Clara C, Jayesslee, Cathy Nguyen, New Heights, Joseph Vincent Group Photo

L to R: David So, Clara Chung, Jayesslee, Cathy Nguyen, Travis (of New Heights), Joseph Vincent

As much as I like the East Coast, sometimes I have to admit that the West is wear a lot of great moments happen. Like the above group shot where a lot of favorite artists of yours and mine all crossed paths at a recent event, bringing together so many people under one roof. I think we’ll look back at times like these and recognize that it was the community that empowered our artists to find an international platform. We can only hope this is the beginning for the likes of David So, Clara Chung, Jayesslee, Cathy Nguyen, Travis & New Heights, and Joseph Vincent.
