Music Video Tuesday! Ok, that’s not a real thing, but that’s our theme of today’s round-up of Youtube video covers. Admittedly, the last video isn’t exactly a music video so much as it is a gigantic mash-up of footage. But when you’re dealing with 50 different artists and trying to work all those clips together, we figure it’s just as much work as any other MV production, so we’ve gone ahead and included it too. Enjoy!
New Heights? Good. Cathy Nguyen? Good. NH x CN? Good. Those that picked up the New Heights album Something to Believe In may already be familiar with the song “Someday”, but the band is presenting a new rendition today, complete with a quasi-MV. This time around, they’ve brought in Cathy Nguyen for some supporting vocals, making this acoustic version just a little bit sweeter. The new acoustic mix is available from the usual suspects of digital retailers.
We’ve seen our fare share of Rihanna covers over the past couple of months, so it’s only fair that we make sure you’re kept in on the loop too. The following eight videos are all covers of the Pop/R&B princess from Barbados, ranging from complete remixes to simple webcam cover videos. The covers by Us, Jenny Suk & Michelle Martinez are particularly noteworthy, definitely standing out from the pack. Be sure to check em all out!

Happy Friday! This is yet another collection of youtube covers, this time around the centralizing genre is Pop. There are some extremely creative visuals here, along with some of the more run-of-the-mill-and-sing-in-front-of-a-webcam varieties, but all in all there’s a little something for everyone. We’ve got tunes from various decades, dating back from the 70′s – so it’s kind of interesting to hear what was and is Pop. Enjoy!
Jane Lui Mashes Up “Rain” and “Crazy for You” by Madonna
Now this is a pretty cool watch. Sometimes good things take time to come to fruition. Such is the case with the music video to “Dreamers” from afterschoolspecial‘s album, It’s All In Your Head. For this music video, they enlisted the new “it” team of the moment, The Dreamlapse Project to create a fun visual in the first person format a la Prodigy. And to help with the project, they’ve gotten everyone to make a cameo and join along for the ride. When I say everyone, I mean everyone. We first started talking about this project almost a year ago, and to see it finally come together with the finished project is a beautiful thing. The great folks at the Jubilee Project always tends to put together great videos, focusing on amazing themes and causes. Their latest project puts some of our favorite artists and Youtube stars on the spot, asking them what is important to them and what they would like to see change and happen in this world. There is a ton of talent in this clip, and it encourages you to join the conversation – perhaps in the hope that once we talk about it, we just might be able to take the next step and do something about it.
For the new year, The Jubilee Project took some time to interview some YT friends about the changes that they would like to see in the world. We really believe that life is a gift and ordinary people can do extraordinary things. We hope that this video encourages you to live life to the fullest this year and be the change you want to see in the world.

A couple weeks back, Jason Chen released his MV for “Best Friend” featuring Cathy Nguyen as the leading lady and directed by the Dreamlapse Project. He’s now set the same visuals to the Chinese version of the song, flexing his bi-lingual muscle and building some international hype for his upcoming Gravity LP – which is now available for pre-order. Jason Chen has finally dropped his new single and accompanying MV, “Best Friend”. As previously mentioned, the video features Cathy Nguyen in the titular leading role and direction and production was handled by the newly formed Dreamlapse Project. The whole thing can be summed up in one word, “cute”, and i mean I that non-condescendingly. I have a feeling that’s exactly what they were going for.
