As we reported a couple days ago, Charice and her family have suffered a terrible tragedy where her estranged father was slain in her native Philippines. But a new report from MTV News has stated that the alleged killer has surrendered himself to authorities. Hopefully this will mark just one small step in the path to justice and consolation for the family. May the victim RIP and the surviving family be able to stay strong through this ordeal.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Charice Pempengco’s father was reported murdered in her native country of the Philippines. The investigation is currently underway but we offer nothing but our prayers condolences for the singer and her family in this time of tragedy. You can read additional details here. Filipino singing star Charice who starred in last season’s “Glee” was informed yesterday that her father was murdered in The Philipines. The two had been estranged for several years but Charice, who has been touring in South East Asia with David Foster, was hoping to reconcile with him. Charice has cancelled the rest of the tour dates and has flown to the Philipines to be with her family. The artist released the following statement:
“I want to thank my fans from around the world for their support and love at this very difficult time for my family and I. We are all very sad about this terrible tragedy.”

Late this past Spring, Charice and her team released the single “Louder” – an upbeat, high energy, dance track that I thought was welcome change from the syrupy ballads she had sung for years. Well, “Louder” has been given the official music video treatment as well, which you can see below. Charice fans will love it, detractors will likely find it at least passingly catchy and everyone else should probably fall somewhere in between.
The song may have dropped in the Spring but Charice and Warner Music Group have finally released a MV for her single “One Day”. The MV is very fitting for the style of song, which also means it’s a tad on the cheesy side but what else can you expect from some good, old fashioned and wholesome youth oriented music? The 19 year old has done more career wise in her short life than most do in a life time… that’s crazy!

The two Filipino musician/actors have been huge hits on the second season of Fox’s runaway ratings success Glee. They appear to be onset of the show as I spy a couple other supporting actors in the background of the picture. Don’t ask me how I’m able to recognize them… don’t judge me. We hope to see plenty more of both on the next season!

The effervescent Charice returns with a new double single release, “Louder” and “Lost the Best Thing”. You can hear Louder in the lyrics video after the break but both songs are available now on iTunes and will be up on Amazon next week as well. “Louder” is a fun, upbeat pop song perfect for Charice’s age and demographic. Can’t wait till the kid drops a new album.
Teen singer Charice has dropped a brand new single that will be on her upcoming album. The song is titled “Before It Explodes” and fits right in the A/C Pop pocket that Charice has been known to excel in. There’s no doubt that the girl can sing well beyond her years, but I’m not sure the song is able to fully able to retain her youthful charm. Regardless, Charice kills the vocals with ease – but I supposed I shouldn’t expect any less from her. Get the song on iTunes or Amazon now.

News has been leaking out that teen singing sensation Charice is expanding her acting chops and has been cast to appear in the film “Here Comes the Boom“. Some of her co-stars include Salma Hayek, Kevin James, Henry Winkler and Joe Rogan among others. The film is supposedly set to debut next summer, July 2012. This may be a big step for the young star, as she looks to grow her on screen exposure past Glee and her cameo in the last Chipmunks movie.

Many of you Gleeks likely saw last night’s premiere of the hit TV show Glee. You probably noticed the episode featured a little singer known as Charice. I have yet to see it but it’s on my to do list for this weekend. But I did come across this clip that she shared where she discusses her experiences of being on the show. It’s funny to see how she’s still a fan girl deep inside despite her own rising super stardom.
For those of you who missed the commotion, last month a rumor spread like wildfire that the young vocal star Charice had been cast into the hit Fox television series Glee. Well that ended up being false and discredited by Ms Pempengco herself. However, the entire situation inspired her to try out and lo and behold she has been definitively tapped to appear in the 2nd season in the fall! Congrats to Charice, this is the perfect fit for her and we look forward to seeing her crossover into television!
