Chuckie has a new official MV for a track titled “Reality”. The production values aren’t anything remarkable but this is one of those cases where it doesn’t bother me as much. He continues his new found introspective, mellowed out style, where he weaves moving narratives about facing struggles and just trying to survive. I respect where he was going with the song & video, and I hope someone can hook him up in the future with the proper visual quality to match.

New Chuckie Akenz – “Tonight”
c.A aka Chuckie Akenz has really grown as an artist – lyrically, beat selection, arrangement, everything. This has become all the more evident after hearing his latest track “Tonight”, which just be one of his best drops yet. This is a dope song with a moody hook and heartfelt verses – a big leap from his “You Got Beef” days. It’s just too bad he didn’t post this up for download!
Chuckie Akenz Drops “When It Rains” [Free DL]
Seemingly MIA canadian rapper Chuckie A has dropped a new single out of the blue entitled “When It Rains” featuring David Ray. I gotta say I’m liking c.A’s new style. It seems a lot more genuine and refined plus his beat selection has improved. You can DL this track for free, and if you choose to grab it you can do so here. Lyrics will be after the break.
Chuckie Akenz x Epik Release “Everywhere You Go”
c.A is continuing his return from dormancy, and today he dropped a new track entitled “Everywhere You Go” featuring Epik on the hook. I liked the beat and the sung hook worked pretty well. Chuckie is really started to drop much stronger material. I guess that time off did him well! You can catch the lyrics after the break.
Chuckie Akenz Releases New Track – “Reality”
Canadian Rapper Chuckie Akenz, who continues to shorten his name (Chuckie Akenz >> Chuckie A >> c.A), just dropped a new track after a lengthy break. This one is entitled “Reality” and it shows a lot of musical growth on Chuckie’s behalf. I’ll be the first to admit that I wasn’t realy a c.A fan before but this song is beginning to change my mind. Well I guess he always did do better on the introspective raps and not the mindless tough talk. Great beat choice too (which is apparently sampled off Sigur Ros)

Jin Drops Tribute Song to Asian MC’s – ‘The A-List’
Jin, arguably the most well-known Asian-American MC, decided to drop a track in tribute of all the Asian MC’s he respects that are doing their thing right now. This song is in response to a list that was published by a blogger on their top 10 Greatest Asian MC’s list, where Jin made the cut at #1. It’s encouraging to see Jin give a nod to his fellow colleagues, or as his once famously said in a Freestyle battle “cause Game recognize game”. He spits over the instrumental to Drake’s “It’s Over”.

WTF: Urban Azn Presents War For Respect
Wow, time flies… it’s another Weekly Thursday Freebie (It’s already the 18th one!).

But all the credit for this one goes to the good fellas over at Urban Azn. They are the ones that compiled this hip-hop mixtape together for your listening pleasure.
A compilation album of the most prominent Asian rappers in hip hop, War For Respect focuses on the street life that many of us are dealing with today. The album is free for download and promotional uses, hit the jump for details on the album.
The mixtape features Jin, Decipher, Mondega, Shogunna, Rookadamus, Flowsik, Reign Era, Roscoe Umali, Thai, Chan, LS, Yung Mac, & Chuckie Akenz. Some of the songs are pretty dated but the project gives a fair representation on the numerous street singles by Asian-American/Candian Hip-Hop artists over the past few years. The cover art borders between a stylized cool and excessive to the point of cheesy but that doesn’t detract from the fact it’s a pretty good collection of tracks.
You can find the back cover w/ the tracklisting and link for DL after the jump!
