Here’s The Latest MV “At Your Request” by Deep Foundation x Hydroponikz ft MC Zani

Last week you saw the preview and today you can see the full music video for Deep Foundation & Hydroponikz‘ “At Your Request”, featuring MC Zani of the UK. The single is off their Generation Ill album from last year and is a welcome listen for sore ears as it brings it back to the classic boom-bap sound of Hip-Hop. The video is more than serviceable and well edited but don’t expect anything too out of the ordinary. Regardless, I found this to be one of the more enjoyable Rap videos in a while.

“At Your Request” is a single off of Deep Foundation and Hydroponikz’s “Generation ILL” EP available on iTunes and via other major digital distributors.

The song features vocals from London beatboxer, educator & former UK Beatbox Champ, MC Zani and a beat by producer collective Generation ILL.

The video was shot in London by Filme Films and in New York by “Jazzy Jeffy” Buenaventura & Wayne Himself who also directed and edited the video

Peep The Teaser for “At Your Request” by Deep Foundation & Hydroponikz feat. MC Zani

Next week, we’re gonna see the music video for the opening track to last year’s Generation Ill album, “At Your Request”, by Deep Foundation and Hydroponikz, featuring MC Zani. Footage for this release was reportedly shot in London and New York – it should be refreshing to hear some of that classic Hip-Hop. But we’ll hold our judgement until we can see the whole thing. Stay tuned, it’s scheduled to drop November 22nd.

[Music Video] Deep Foundation x Hydroponikz – “Generation Ill”

Last fall, Deep Foundation & Hydroponikz dropped a project album together entitled Generation Ill. Today we finally get to see some visuals for the LP in the form of an MV for the title track. The video matches the style of the song perfectly, keeping it simple but effective as the MC’s spit their thoughts while walking around various parts of the city. Visuals are clean and well edited though there’s nothing too fancy. I was feeling this one.

In an era of economic instability, flawed educational values and political apathy, “Generation ILL” serves as a head-nod to those most affected by these trends. Despite the recent downturns however, these individuals choose to continue, persevere, and carry-on in the spirit that life was meant to be lived- with an eye towards better days and both feet planted in the present. This is our homage to the working class, the youth coming into their own amidst such uncertainty and those who struggle in the hopes of what tomorrow may bring.

[Music Video] Magnetic North x Taiyo Na x Jin – “I Got My”

The folks behind the Home:Word album, Magnetic North & Taiyo Na have finally put out the music video to their song “I Got My” featuring Jin. But I doubt you’re ready for what you’re about to see as the crew has dug deep and reached out to all their contacts, friends, affiliates, etc to be a part of this MV. There are cameos from the Blue Scholars, Denizen Kane, Conchita Campos, DFD, Christina Chung, FM, Thomas Apartment, James Ha, Vienna Teng, DanAKADan, El Gambina, Cynthia Lin, Dawen, Bambu, DJ Phatrick, Kiwi, Heather Park, Vudoo, Lyrics, Manifest, Alfa, AJ Rafael, Jay Legaspi and a whole lot more. Those are just some of the musicians, there are a ton of activists, media folk, dancers, artists, students, educators, and more who also had a role. This is easily one of the dopest concepts put to music and unifying MV’s I’ve seen all year. Great release.

Boxer Nonito Donaire Walks out to Deep Foundation x Hydroponikz’s “Children of the Sun”

Boxer Nonito Donaire recently chose to walk into the stadium for his fight to Deep Foundation & Hydroponikz’s Filipino anthem – “Children of the Sun“. That’s some pretty cool placement for the artists and an encouraging sign of inter-culture support across multiple domains. The track is off the DF album The First Draft. Honestly, it’s a very fitting choice for the boxer. For those of you who were wondering, Donaire won the match as well.

Deep Foundation x Hydroponikz Drop the Generation Ill Album

In more album release news, frequent collaborators Deep Foundation & Hydroponikz have linked up again, this time for a full album they call Generation ILL. It isn’t too long, clocking in at 10 tracks, with several of them being bonus, but if the rest of the album turns out anything like the title track, it should be a strong release. One thing I always admire about DF/Hydro drops is the production, they always got some nice beats. The album has vocal features from Melissa Polinar, Rocky Rivera, Bambu and more. Grab your copy of the album from iTunes or CD Baby.

Deep Foundation x Hydroponikz x Anika Hazel Remix ‘Nothin On You’

The fellas from DF along with Hydroponikz and Anika Hazel have teamed up for what they dub a “freemix” of B.o.B. and Bruno Mars’ huge hit “Nothin’ On You”. As you probably guessed, it’s a free DL. It’s a decent track but it doesn’t have the same charm as the original. It’s hard to top the ridiculously catchy original. It’s a fun attempt but they’ve all dropped nicer songs in the past.

Deep Foundation Interview w/ channelAPA

Here’s another interview from ChannelAPA’s East Coast tour. This time they talk with NY-based Deep Foundation, showing why their group name is truly applicable as their love Hip-Hop and their own ethnic Filipino heritage has really grounded them and runs deep in everything they do. They also mention what it was like to work with Choz Belen, Hydro, Bambu, and Legaci. Expect big things for the group!

Deep Foundation x Jay Legaspi Interview with MYX TV

Deep Foundation & Jay Legaspi collabed on a track a couple years back called ‘Sleep’, where Choz Belen created a signature music video for them. This is one of the reasons why the artists were featured on the Visual Crunch segment, highlighting their work and showcasing the video. As is the status quo for VC, it’s a short interview but great to see the gang all together at once and hear their thoughts behind the music.

Deep Foundation x Hydroponikz Release An Adam Carolla Diss Track

Earlier this month shock jock Adam Carolla made some incredibly stupid comments in the “name of humor” about Manny Pacquaio and the people of the Philippines in general. As you can imagine, a lot of people got heated to the point where they went after his sponsors. Under intense pressure Adam issued a somewhat ambiguous apology, whether or not is genuine has yet to be determined.

Among many of the people to publicly speak out against the radio host’s actions are Filipino hip-hop artists Deep Foundation and Hydroponikz who deliver this remix over the Jay-Z ‘Minority Report’ instrumental.

Early this month, Adam Carolla made disparaging comments about Manny Pacquiao, the Philippines and its people in his popular “The Adam Carolla Podcast.” For all those that say it was a joke and that we’re taking Carolla’s comments too seriously, we encourage you to actually listen to clip from the podcast. He was not joking when he made rants such as “All they have over there is Manny Pacquiao and sex tours” and “Heres how you know when your country doesnt have a lot going for it: When everything is about Manny Pacquiao.”

Initially, Carolla posted an “apology” on Twitter, but not only after thousands of Filipinos signed a petition demanding an apology did he post one on his site. We felt the need to respond to comments reducing our people as Manny Pacquiao worshipers and prostitutes. So we did.
