Last night, Dia Frampton returned to the stage that made her a national name, performing “Don’t Kick the Chair” with guest feature, KiD CuDi. The song is from her major label solo debut, Red, that was released after her 2nd place finish on the inaugural season of The Voice on NBC, here in the states. If you missed it, you can catch the action in the video below.
Singer and Season 1 Finalist of The Voice, Dia Frampton, has a couple new interviews we’d like to highlight for you. One is a text interview with KoreanBeacon while the other is a video interview by AllKPop. Both are fairly high-level overviews of the artist, keeping things fairly general. They are actually both very similar in content, so if you’re short on time, you may just one to pick one & call it a day.
It wasn’t too long ago that the majority of the videos we saw on Youtube were grainy, low resolution videos taken from webcams, compact cameras, and cell phones. But now, these types of videos are almost a minority as many artists have moved on to newer video recording devices. Even still, there are a few hold outs that are sticking to their tried and true capturing methods and the following round-up is a collection of such clips. So if things look dim and blurry, no worries, it’s not your screen, it’s just some out-dated technology!
Jayne Rio Covers “The One That Got Away” by Katy Perry
Esther Lee Covers “Little Red Riding Hood” by Sam the Sham
Erika David Remixes “Lotus Flower Bomb” by Wale x Miguel
KPOP is bigger now internationally than ever, so we choose that as the theme to close out the work week with this round-up. There are some familiar faces along with a few unexpected & fun surprises from artists you’d never peg as KPOP listeners. Each cover/remix has it’s own merit, so check out the whole lot and enjoy your Friday!
OK, by now it should be no secret that I, GT, am a big Dia (and Meg!) Frampton fan. But, partial opinions aside, you can’t tell me this isn’t a cute picture of the sisters known as Meg & Dia. They’ve been busy on tour recently, but found some time to goof off in guise of a very famous wizard. Glad they can have a little fun despite the hectic schedule of being on the road! I guess you could say that this was a … *puts on shades*magical moment. (yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!)
We decided to switch things up a little bit, and only share songs that aren’t exactly radio chart toppers. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to hear any of these songs on the radio (even when they first debuted). Now just because these songs weren’t spun on national airwaves doesn’t mean they should be ignored. They just didn’t have the marketing push to get them up on that national level or were sungs by niche, independent artists themselves. The only semi-exception is the medley that Jeremy Passion sings of songs by popular artists that were never promoted.
Jenny Suk Covers “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye (MPhazes Remix)
When you put a bunch of talented artists in a room with instruments and a camera, the inevitable Youtube jam session is going to occur. That’s the binding theme among today’s round-up, with all the covers being mostly raw footage of artists and their friends (and sometimes family) singing their hearts out to their favorite songs of the moment. How’s an even dozen sound to you? It’s a lot? Well you better get started!
Dia Frampton has always seemed down to earth and sincere, and that’s why she’s like a breath of fresh air among the countless celebrities that grace our public consciousness over the years. In her interview with Fenuxe Magazine, she talks frankly about the pros and cons to her new life, and why she’s a little insecure about the second season of the Voice starting up. Read the interview in full over at Fenuxe, it’s not too long and it’s a great read!
Hello again. Today we have batch of throwback covers for your listening/viewing enjoyment courtesy of our artists and their Youtube accounts. Now, when we say throwback we mean songs that have to be well over a decade old. So anything pre-2000 goes, definitely nothing newer. Now, it’s be expected that some will appreciate some songs more than others, with the term classic meaning different things to different people. The biggest caveat, however, is that most of these covers can’t compare to the originals… but regardless, peruse through the bunch and check out your favorites below!
With the second season of The Voice getting ready to premiere on Superbowl Sunday, NBC has decided to release a webseries with 1st season runner-up (but arguably the bigger winner), Dia Frampton. It’s more like a well produced VLOG/extended Entertainment Tonight type of series (with some product placement to boot), but it allows you to catch up with the rising singer and see what she’s been up to since her famous run on the TV show. The first episode debuted today in conjunction with Huffington Post. Stay tuned til the end for a new performance of her single ‘The Broken Ones’.
