Erin Kim Sings a Song for Her 엄마 (Mom)

If you can’t tell, we’re catching up on our Mother’s Day related songs by our artists. Erin Kim sings a tune for her Mom in this relaxing, acoustic guitar driven track. Sometimes it’s best to communicate with our parents in their native tongue, and that’s what Erin has done, writing a song that’s primarily in Korean to express her gratitude for her Mother. You can find both the Korean and translated English lyrics below, for reference.

This is for my mother, I have never written a song for her, so I thought I should just write a song about how much I love her through the 4 chords that I really know how to play:)

The Songs of Faith Youtube Round-Up 5/8/12

Music is a powerful tool as any for expression, and what better aspect of life to express than one’s faith? That’s what the following group of musicians decided to do, covering songs by Vineyard, Shane & Shane, Laura Story, Hillsong and more. Jeremy Passion, Cathy Nguyen, Jayesslee, Arden Cho, Esther Lee and Erin Kim use the gifts they were blessed with to bless others. The first two clips in particular have fantastic harmonies.

Listen to “Sprinkle Down” by Erin Kim

Erin Kim has posted up a more ethereal offering when compared to some of her past material, in the form of a song called “Sprinkle Down”. Inspired by the sound of falling rain, the song has the properties more like a heavy morning fog – slow, a bit mysterious and oddly calming. If anything, this is a lot closer to the sounds of mree, not that we’re complaning! Lyrics are available after the break.

I woke up this morning to the sound of heavy rain.
Turns out that we had a storm.
The sound of the rain inspired me to write again haha.
It’s really just me doing alot of oOoO’s and AaaAh’s.
But I hope you guys like it!
Hope you all are doing well and splendid:)

God Bless,
-rin

New Erin Kim – “Pretending”

It’s been encouraging to see Erin Kim grow as a musician and song writer over the past couple years since winning the inaugural Kollaboration Seattle event. Her latest, a ditty called “Pretending”, showcases some acoustic-pop style with a bluesy inclination that fits Ms Kim’s voice seamlessly. All I can say is, the girl needs more official, recorded material out there because these Youtube videos aren’t doing her justice.
