FM & Bruno Mars Featured in Entertainment Weekly

30 Aug

FM & Bruno have worked together in the past, both on stage and in the studio and it looks like good talent only begets one another because both have been featured in Entertainment Weekly’s feature article - The Next Big Hits Are… They surveyed various radio programmers on who they thing will be all over the airwaves this fall and it looks like FM & BM made the cut. Props to them, and hopefully it will be a prophecy fulfilled!

FM Releases the Video Remix for “Like a G6″

24 Aug

It’s been a little over two months since FM dropped their official MV for “Like a G6″ but they’ve put up a new remix of both the track and the video by Disco Fries & Video DJ Crush. Is it any better than the original? Not really… though for those of you who like the original and wouldn’t mind hearing/seeing a slighly different spin on it, I’m sure you’ll dig it.

Maybe I’m just getting tired of the promotions of a track that dropped in November of last year.

FM Releases “Go Ape” Video w/ Iggy & Interview w/ MOViN 99.7

16 Aug

In the first bit of news for the Far East Movement, they have a new psuedo music video they did w/ MTV Iggy. They basically just went nuts to their song “Go Ape” and passed the camera around to capture all the action.

The Beastie Boys used to “pass the mic.” But what if the Far Eastie Boys passed the camera? In this live video performance shot exclusively by MTV Iggy, FM and the Stereotypes deliver a high-octane, one-of-a-kind performance of “Go Ape,” from their latest album Free Wired. It’s a rough, raw performance that we shot on the fly but FM and the Stereotypes really showed us what they mean about going ape. Check it out!

Secondly, FM also recently had an interview on the San Francisco radio station MOViN 99.7 with Bennie Siegal. They cover the usual subjects but keep it short and sweet. Awesome to see their exposure continue to ramp up!

Far East Movement Reveals New Album Title & Cover

14 Aug

FM has officially announced that their major label debut with Cherrytree/Interscope will be dropping in late Fall 2010. In an expected move, they have decided to title the release  Free Wired and the album artwork has been released (see above). The fellas seem to have all their ducks lined up and it’s only a matter of time before their official release.

Wong Fu x KevJumba x David Choi Release MV for “Dance to This Song”

3 Aug

You can’t take everything in life too seriously, even music: and this video is the perfect example of what I mean. Back in April Wong Fu, KevJumba & David Choi dropped a new single entitled “Dance to This Song” that goes all out just because they can. It’s a nod to every Pop song element currently big in musical trends today. It’s ridiculous, silly, even stupid but still 100% enjoyable (kind of like Steve Carrell). Even crazier are the cameos in this MV including FM, Kinna Grannis and Victor of Quest Crew. Even import model Jeri Lee comes through haha.

The track is still available on Amazon and iTunes so don’t miss out!

FM Remixes Robyn’s “Don’t F*cking Tell Me What to Do”

3 Aug

The Far East Movement stays busy and just dropped a new remix of a track by one of their label mates. Robyn, who has a new single out called “Don’t Fucking Tell Me What to Do” has been “ReFlipped” by FM into something they call “Don’t Fucking Tell Me What to Drink”. Honestly I do think it works better as a rap song than the psuedo chanting Robyn does, but even than I’m not really feeling this one. Great beat though but the lyrics and total package are meh for me.

As a bonus, peep their recent interview w/ Karma Loop as they go on a quest for Lobster Rolls in Boston. Totally random and unrelated but still a bit entertaining. It’s after the break.

FM Interview w/ Complex Magazine

6 Jul

The Far East Movement has got a new interview out with Complex Magazine. It’s in two parts but they cover a lot of ground and topics that at least I have personally been wondering. Of course the requisite subjects of their beginnings come up but the interview moves on to their struggle to get where they are at now, working on their major label debut with artists such as Snoop, Bruno, Sean Kingston, etc, transitioning to their electronic influenced style of hip-hop and away from heavy lyricism, and what other AA artists have influenced them since day one. It’s a great interview and a definite recommended read.

Check out part one here and part two here.
