The Videoless Youtube Remixes Round-Up 5/3/12

We did it before, a couple months back; bringing you a collection of remixes done by artists that chose to forgo creating a video too. Instead we get a mixture of static images, cover art, and if we’re lucky, a slide show of some type. This has been a staple of the digital age for Hip-Hop artists, as it’s too time consuming to make a video for all their mixtape-ready songs – whether or not you feel they are cutting corners is a completely different story. At the very least you can listen to the following in the background, knowing your not missing much by not paying attention to the (lack of) visuals!

Misfit Remixes “Sail” by Awol Nation

Ed-Two Remixes “The Recipe” by Kendrick Lamar x Dr. Dre

Thai Remixes “Donald Trump” by Mac Miller

J-ricz x Sizzle Remix “Live My Life” by Far East Movement x Justin Bieber

FlowEthics x XOXO Release “Nothing at All”

FlowEthics & XOXO are two groups that found themselves as competitors on the 4th Kollaboration Acoustic Show back in 2010. Since that time, they’ve come to be collaborators, working on one of my favorite remixes, “Take Me There“. Now, two years later, they look to rekindle the magic with a new joint track called “Nothing At All”. It’s not quite the runaway hit that the Rugrats remix was, but their collective brand of acoustic Hip-Hop is still nearly always appreciated. It’s free via Bandcamp.

FlowEthics Releases “V.S.”

As a hold over until their delayed album HeroesEnDeSkies drops, FlowEthics will be releasing more material (videos and songs) every Saturday. “V.S.” is an example of the latter with this being the first track we’ve heard in a while from the California troupe. Unforunately, their female vocalist is notably absent from this one. DL it for free, here!

Passport: MV for FlowEthics Featured Single “Let the Story Tell” by Re:Plus Released

Let me be the first to admit, this track has been on replay since I first heard it a couple weeks back. Thankfully, Japanese Hip-Hop troupe Re:Plus have released the official music video to “Let the Story Tell” featuring California’s FlowEthics. Personally, I can appreciate a little bit of story telling mixed in with my music videos. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the group made appearances in the video – thanks the wonders of the digital age we live in. If you have access to a Japanese music store, I highly recommend you pick up the Ordinary Landscape album now!

Passport: FlowEthics Collab with Re:plus on “Let the Story Tell”‘

Japanese Jazz/Hip-Hop outfit, Re:plus, have tapped the talents of another Asian-American act – none other than Flow Ethics. Once you think about it, FE seems like a perfect fit for a feature on a Re:plus production… they did compete on Kollaboration Acoustic a couple years back after all. And you know what? They make a strong a team as any as the song, “Let the Story Tell” is one of the best tracks I’ve heard yet from the California group. Take a listen below! This is from the album Ordinary Landscape, available in Japan.

FlowEthics Preview “I’m Goin”

FlowEthics is one of those groups that find themselves in an interesting position. Being a co-ed Hip-Hop group, they have a lot of possibilities and opportunities to mix up their sound and play off their chemistry & dynamics – something that works brilliantly sometimes and a little disjointed others. Their latest effort, a preview of their song “I’m Goin”, tends to learn more towards the former situation, showing a lot of promise for their upcoming project HeroesEnDeSkies. Everything came together in this live performance so I have no reason to doubt it’ll be that much stronger in the studio version. BTW, that Damien Rice guitar sample was a nice touch.

FlowEthics – “Stay (Just a Little Bit)” [Free DL]

The latest drop from FlowEthics, “Stay (Just a Little Bit)”, makes use of a sample of the Maurice Williams & the Zodiac’s classic “Stay”. I’ve got (Just a Little Bit) of a mixed impression from the he song as I’ve heard them brilliantly flip samples in the past. The production wasn’t quite the home-run I was expecting, it felt too overproduced, especially in the hook though it’s still a pretty enjoyable and light hearted track. It’s too bad it couldn’t quite retain the charm of it’s sample though. Get the track for free via the widget below.

FlowEthics Preview Upcoming Album – HeroesEnDeSkies

Group FlowEthics, in my opinion one of the most underrated acts in the Hip-Hop space, has just dropped a sampler of songs from an upcoming album entitled HeroesEnDeSkies. It’s just snippets of roughly half the tracks that will be on the final LP and I gotta say it’s a promising start. Hopefully the can carry the momentum through till the final product.

Flow Ethics x DJ E Remix Patrice Rushen’s “Remind Me” [Free DL]

California Hip-Hop group Flow Ethics have a new drop, a collaboration with DJ E, where they remix renowned jazz musician Patrice Rushen’s “Remind Me”. This is a smoooooooth joint. They chose a classic backdrop for their new song and I think they flipped it well. It’s soulful listen and I think many of you will enjoy it. Props to all the artists involved. Oh yea, it’s a free DL – so grab it via the widget below!

SueJin x Dawen x Furis x Esna Yoon x FlowEthics to Perform at Bier Müsik on 9/24

If you’re in the LA area this Friday, you should go out to the Biergarten to catch a show with an awesome line up. Suejin, Dawen, Furis, Esna, and Flow Ethics will all be there, providing you a great mix of genres and styles. Plus, I’m going to venture out and guess there will be some good beer there too. You can find out more information by visiting the venue’s facebook and twitter. I’m not sure if there are any age restrictions or not.
