Snapshot: The Far East Movement Tour Bus

FM Tour Bus

This past summer, the Far East Movement had the incredible opportunity to go on a nation wide tour with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Keri Hilson & more – and part of the perks to joining such a high profile tour is getting your own mobile accommodations aka… a tour bus. Take one look at that vehicle and you know FM has undeniably “made it”. If having your faces plastered across a 40 foot bus for the purpose of touring with the best selling Hip-Hop acts of 2011 doesn’t scream commercial success… then I don’t know what does.

This photo was taken from their official Facebook albums of the tour. You can view more great pictures here and here.

[Live Performance] Far East Movement – “So What” at LA Artwalk

The Far East Movement has always been a big proponent and supporter of their community in Los Angeles, and here is yet another example as they linked up aartist Robert Vargas at a recent Artwalk event in the city of Angels. Robert did a live painting followed by a performance by the quad of their latest single “So What“. As per FM’s style, it’s a high energy set and a great exhibition of various creative art forms.

[Music Video] Far East Movement – “So What”

Here goes the fourth single off the Far East Movement’s Free Wired album – “So What”. It’s another extremely catchy number by the quad. Visually it’s the cleanest video of theirs far but easily my least favorite when compared to the MVs for “Like a G6“, “Rocketeer“, and “If I Was You (OMG)“. The colors pop but the concept is a bit ho-hum – at least in my humble opinion. That being said it’s another excuse to listen to a great track, so I can’t complain too much.

FM Drops the MV for “If I Was You (OMG)” ft Snoop

As expected, The Far East Movement have dropped their latest MV for their 3rd single off the Free Wired album called “If I Was You (OMG)” ft Snoop Dogg. Knowing VEVO, you can’t view the video directly from this blog but go ahead and click on the video below and it’ll take you directly to the VEVO page. Don’t forget to check out the behind the scenes footage we posted up a few days back too. I won’t be able to check this out later so I’ll post my thoughts then.

[Edit] After peeping the video I can say it wasn’t initially what I visioned for this song when I first heard it back in October… but it still works. Stylistically and color wise, it’s a lot of fun with interesting visual touches all around. As for the video itself, it’s a bit random and in a way silly but somewhat refreshing in comparison to your average rap video. It’s mildly entertaining to say the least.

Critic’s Corner: Far East Movement – Free Wired

Yes, we know this album is 5 months old. But we’re still digging ourselves out of the perpetual backlog of album reviews and we definitely couldn’t leave out one of the most significant releases in years for the AA music scene. Free Wired is the album that helped propel the Far East Movement from the “up and coming” stage they have been at for years to the “they’ve made it big” stage where you can hardly go a day in public without hearing one of their songs. So is Free Wired the result of great marketing and luck? Or is it truly worth the mass exposure and recognition that it’s gotten?

Far East Movement Releases the “2 Is Better” MV ft Natalia Kills x Ya Boy

The Far East Movement continues to grind hard. Their latest drop is the music video for the bonus track (they initially debuted a version of this song back in 2009) “2 Is Better” featuring Natalia Kills and rapper Ya Boy. The video has a dark, pyschadelic club type of feel to it that matches the song well. There’s an 80′s retro type of feel to the whole thing. The song is enjoyable but certainly isn’t one of my all time favorites from the guys. Natalia and Ya Boy were solid features though and kept things fresh. As usual, Vevo isn’t letting us embed it but you can check out the clip on their channel!

The Far East Movement Releases Live MV for “So What?”

The Far East Movement have a new performance clip out where they are performing their single “So What” from their album Free Wired, live at The Cherrytree House. The visual concept is interesting where everything is blacked out complete with blacklights and the resulting glowing clothing. The remix things up in the last third with some new lyrics and beat while Virman holds down the tables. That was actually my favorite part of the clip. Look for a new official MV from FM later this week! Our apologies if the video below doesnt work. You can also check it out on their official Vevo Channel.

FM Performs Live on Conan

Last night the fellas of the Far East Movement had another milestone national television appearance, landing a spot on comic heavy weight Conan. They performed their current rising single “Rocketeer” but in a remixed form with new verses and Prohgress on the keys. Ryan Tedder (It’s actually Frankmusik) even made it out to sing his signature hook. FM just wont stop! Congrats to some of the hardest working guys in the industry.

Check out some behind the scenes pics on their site!

Showdown: Jason Yang vs Clara Chung vs Erin Kim x GOWE

The “Rocketeer” covers just won’t stop! Today Clara Chung dropped her own rendition on the bubbling follow-up single to “Like a G6″ from the Far East Movement’s major label debut and it’s inspired another Showdown post. We’ve already shared several covers already but we’ve picked three new ones to compare and have you vote for your favorite.

Jason Yang works his instrumental mojo to craft a non-vocal version of the song. Clara brings her trademark charm to the song & arrangement. Lastly, Seattle Kollaboration 2010 competitors and now collaborators Erin Kim & GOWE (along with Travis Graham) have teamed up for their own rendition a little more faithful to the original. So which version were you liking more?
