Jeff Bernat Releases Debut Album – ‘The Gentleman Approach’

Artist Jeff Bernat has capitalized his growing presence on Youtube and has dropped his debut album, The Gentleman Approach. He’s even got a feature from Geo aka Prometheus Brown of the Blue Scholars on this 12 track release. In a way he kind of reminds me of a mix of Sam Ock and Passion… which really isn’t a bad way to go. He mixes rap, song and an old-school type of vibe to create a refreshing sound. Check this one out.

Prometheus Brown Features on DLRN’s “Reset” with Illecism
Ever seen a Hip-Hop western? You know, cowboys and rappers… no? Well consider it crossed off your bucket list because the Blue Scholar’s Prometheus Brown has linked up with DLRN (5th Ave & Jon Reyes) and Illecism for the music video to their track “Reset”. The very fact that they completely went in a novel artistic direction instantly gives it points in my book, you have no idea how boring it is to watch the same type of MVs day after day.
Prometheus Brown Releases ‘Brownouts Vol. 1′

Brownouts Vol. 1 is a collection of tracks that feature Prometheus Brown aka Geo of the Blue Scholars, packaged as a single project for your listening enjoyment and convenience. It contains a number of collabs, rough drafts, photos, b-sides, etc – things any die hard fan would have killed for before the advent of the digital age, where these files can be shared so easily. DL the project for free here.
Logics x Geo Keep It in “Focus” with New MV
For those that were paying attention, you may remember a little song that dropped back in February by Logics featuring Geo (aka Prometheus Brown) of the Blue Scholars. Well fast forward to present day and you got the visuals for the Problematic EP single to bridge the gap between the Vegas and Seattle MCs. It’s cleanly edited with a neat old-school boxing motif and an overall strong track making for a solid release all around.
Beatrock Music Releases the Digital Martyrs Remix Beatrock Album

Indie label Beatrock Music has dropped a remix album by Digital Martyrs featuring different spins on a whole bunch of songs by Power Struggle, Rocky Rivera, Bambu, Blue Scholars, Kiwi and more. These songs generally sound completely different from their originals so if you’re looking to hear a new perspective on some of your favorite Califorinia indie Hip-Hop songs then it’d behoove you to check this on out. It’s a free DL so don’t miss out.
Geo of Blue Scholars Features on “Focus” By Logics [Free DL]

I dunno about you, but I’m a huge fan of Geo aka Prometheus Brown of Blue Scholars. Well the very talented MC has lent his talent to a new record by Logics called Focus. The song features a soulful hook by Adrian Sims. It’s a pretty dope hip-hop record and both MC’s held their own, but then again I’ve come to expect nothing less from Geo and those associated with him. This song had me nodding my head the whole time. The track is a free DL, so get it here. Not bad, not bad at all.

Critic’s Corner: Bambu – …Paper Cuts… EP
Bambu dropped this EP earlier this year as something of a prelude to his upcoming exit album which he has been stating to be his last. He’s been in the game a long time now, both as part of Native Guns and now as a solo artist – choosing not only to use his mic to make music but speak and organize the communities he grew up in as well. It’s on that note that he continues to interweave the two worlds, regularly incorporating some type of socially concious theme into his music. So with the formal collections of his music as albums coming to a supposed end, how did this EP fare?
