Snapshot: Kelly Ripa Joins Girls Generation?

Girls Generation x Kelly Ripa

You gotta love it when TV hosts have a little fun with their guests. By now I imagine many of you have seen the two US television debut performances by South Korean Pop group, Girls Generation. Well earlier today, Kelly Ripa tweeted a photoof her and the girls on the set of her daytime talk show. It remains to be seen what, if any lasting impact the group will have on the music scene, but it must have been an exciting past 24 hours for them!

Say Cheese!

Girls’ Generation Performs on David Letterman & Live! With Kelly

As we reported earlier about the group being on the show, rumors and many fancams were confirmed as the nine girls made their way to the show earlier today. David Letterman got an influx of new fans tonight as Girls’ Generation made their network debut appearance on his show. The group rocked out to a new music arrangement and despite performing on a tiny stage, somehow got all their choreography in. It’s definitely new territory not just for them but for David Letterman as well. They are due back on air for their performance tomorrow on with Live! With Kelly!

[update] And here’s the Live! with Kelly clip. Keep in mind that these are fan uploads and could be taken down at any moment. We’ll update with the official clips once/if they become available.

Girls Generation Reportedly Scheduled to Appear on Live! with Kelly & the Late Show with David Letterman

Well I’ll be. It would seem that the WGs aren’t the only Korean import girl group to start making a promotional push on national television here in the states. Reports have been coming in that the cheer-leading squad Pop group, Girls Generation aka 소녀시대 aka SNSD aka how-many-of-them-are-there? are scheduled to appear on two national television talk shows, Live! with Kelly and the Late Show with David Letterman. An interesting approach, considering they are tackling both daytime and late night TV. It remains to see how they will be fare, likely with their Teddy Riley produced single, “The Boys“.

You can read more about it over at AJ.

Girls Generation Featured on Billboard.com

As the K-Pop super group SNSD aka Girls Generation continues their Fembot like quest for world domination, they are beginning to pick up more and more attention from media outlets outside their homeland of South Korea. With the release of their latest single, “The Boys” (prod by Teddy Riley), across international markets, the ladies have found themselves the subject of an article on Billboard.com. There, they career is summarized almost like a press-release with the intent to get folks up to the speed in the event that their careers take off here in the states in the near future. Go ahead, head on over to BB and become a SNSD loving zombie like the rest of us.

Girl’s Generation (SNSD) Releases English Version of “The Boys”

It’s been a while since 2009′s mass migration of Asian Pop stars (Se7en, BoA, the Wonder Girls, Utada, etc) to the US market – an experiment most would argue resulted in mediocre results at best. But it looks like SM Entertainment is ready to give it another go with the international release of their golden goose, SNSD’s, latest single/album. The lead track is called “The Boys” and features world-renowned producer, Teddy Riley, behind the boards. They look to be one of the first Asian acts to make an impact in the US industry, deviating from the middling success of their contemporaries. In fact, Teddy Riley had some choice words regarding the project and what sets Girl’s Generation apart from those of the past. Time will tell how they fare.

Jennifer Chung Covers SNSD’s “Run Devil Run”

All you avid KPOP fans are surely familiar with the hit song ‘Run Devil Run’ by SNSD. The more devoted fans are also likely aware that this song was originally written for and recorded by Ke$ha before being scrapped and ended up being purchased by SM Entertainment (SNSD’s company) but that’s not so relevant.

Jennifer Chung decided to switch things up a bit and cover the song, Korean language and all. It’s a nice acoustic switch up to the otherwise heavily produced original. I enjoyed this one.

On a side note, JC also auditioned for Glee, so check out her clips and give her a gold star if you think she deserves a shot at being McKinley High’s latest transfer student!

Tiffany x Jessica of SNSD Interview w/ Soompi

The two Korean-American members of the huge mega-hit girl group SNSD (aka Girl’s Generation) had a recent interview w/ Soompi.com.

They discussed a lot about their childhood and growing up in training to be the next hopeful star and how it’s impacted their lives since exploding onto the pop music scene. They also talk about what it’s like to be Korean Americans in the KPOP world and what it took to adjust between the two similar but ultimately different cultures.

On a random note, Jessica has a higher voice than I expected… but I still got a small crush on her.

You can catch the full interview after the jump or head on over to Soompi for the goods.
