The Throwback Covers Youtube Round-Up 5/1/12

Welcome to Uno de Mayo! It’s another round-up, and since it’s already May and time seems to be flying by, we decided to scour Youtube for the covers of songs from years past. Many of these songs are two decades old or more, so these certainly qualify as ‘throwbacks’. Usher, Radiohead, Mr. Big, Selena, and more! I realize that some of you may be hearing these songs for the first time, which makes me feel a little sad and a little old, but there’s nothing like the classics!

The Performance Covers Youtube Round-Up – 3/29/12

It’s early Thursday here on the East, but it seemed just as good a time as any for another round-up batch. Today’s common denominator is that all of these videos are performance clips. Now that does’t necessarily mean each of these was shot in front of an audience, although some were; rather it simply means there is no lip-sync involved. The audios are comprised of a single take, though some of the the video footage is via multi-camera set-ups. That being said, you have an assortment of performance stages ranging from a bedroom to a full-scale live audience. Just for good measure, we’ve thrown in a clip that blew us away from a Korean singing competition. Check it out at the end, you won’t regret it!

Inch Chua Performs “Gamajazillion”

In the latter half of the 00′s, Inch Chua and some musical friends formed the band Allura, where they also released a small collection of songs called the Wake Up & Smell the Seaweed EP. One of the cuts off the album was “Gamajazillion”, which Inch decided to bring back from out of the archives and share with you all today. This should be new to her more recent fans, and old fans should appreciate this blast from the past.

The Non-Top-40 Youtube Cover Round-Up – 3/4/12

We decided to switch things up a little bit, and only share songs that aren’t exactly radio chart toppers. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to hear any of these songs on the radio (even when they first debuted). Now just because these songs weren’t spun on national airwaves doesn’t mean they should be ignored. They just didn’t have the marketing push to get them up on that national level or were sungs by niche, independent artists themselves. The only semi-exception is the medley that Jeremy Passion sings of songs by popular artists that were never promoted.

When you put a bunch of talented artists in a room with instruments and a camera, the inevitable Youtube jam session is going to occur. That’s the binding theme among today’s round-up, with all the covers being mostly raw footage of artists and their friends (and sometimes family) singing their hearts out to their favorite songs of the moment. How’s an even dozen sound to you? It’s a lot? Well you better get started!

The Adele Youtube Covers Round-Up – 2/13/12

Last night, Adele walked away from the Grammys a multi-category winner, and for good reason since she’s had a huge year and brought soulful music back to the forefront. And our artists have recognized that quality about her too, which explains why we’ve had countless covers of the singer and her numerous hits, both old and new. Today we bring you 9 more covers, just in case you haven’t had your fill of Adele yet.

Inch Chua Featured on Channel News Asia

Singer/song-writer Inch Chua was recently featured on a segment for Channel News Asia (a Singaporean and Asian focused News Network) called The Big Picture. The piece was about musicians who have been expanding their craft into both local and international market. Check out the clip from earlier this month where the do a quick spotlight on Inch along with a brief interview.

Inch Chua Shares “Lyre Lyre Hearts on Fire”

It’s been a little while since we last heard from Inch Chua, but the dry spell ends with the upload of this Youtube video for “Lyre Lyre Hearts on Fire”. Although she didn’t write the tune herself, it was given to her and based on this promising stripped rendition, I’d like to hear a final studio cut. You can find a little more back story and lyrics after the break.
