It’s “Another Day” by Jae Jin x J. Han x C-Note

In this DMV collaboration, singer Jae Jin recruited the help of J. Han from AMP and C-Note to join him on a track called “Another Day”. There were a lot of hands in the pot for this one with additional help coming from Fort Lee Music and Sky Muzik on the production end, among others. It’s a pretty decent track that touches upon faith and struggles – a fair way to start your Tuesday off on a contemplative note. Enjoy it? It’s a free DL via Bandcamp.

Showdown: J. Han of AMP vs City Boy

It’s been a good day, so what would you folks say to another edition of Showdown? This is where we have a little friendly comparison of artists that cover/remix the same songs and then vote for the one we think pulled it off better.

Canadian rapper Drake has always been a popular pick for covers and remixes in Youtube-land and his song “Headlines” is no exception. We’ve seen countless renditions all over the internet but two of the more recent ones to cross our screens were by DMV’s J. Han (of AMP fame) and AZ’s City Boy. The two MCs went in different directions content wise so it made for an interesting contrast over the same instrumental.

J. Han

City Boy

It was kind of interesting to see both artists start slow and kick it into double time in the latter half, but overall I’d say their demeanor and styles are nuanced on separate ends of the spectrum. I guess the only question is which one fits your liking better? J. Han’s college-kid, more light-hearted charm? Or is it City Boy’s more menacing and tenacious energy?

You know what to do, vote away!

[Single Release] GT x Johnnyphlo x J. Han x Jae Jin – “Speaking Up”

Our very own GT has taken off the blogger hat for just a moment and returned to his roots to drop a new single about faith called “Speaking Up”. The song features three other gentleman that you may know by the name of Johnnyphlo, J. Han (of AMP fame), with singer Jae Jin contributing the chorus. Interestingly enough, the song was reportedly completed some time ago and is just now seeing the light of day. This song is from a mixtape called GT & Friends that should drop later this year. And for those paying attention, the four remixed Bone Thugs-n-Harmony’s 2007 song “I Tried” which is why it may sound familiar. Support Mr. GT & crew and download the song now for free from bandcamp!

Lastly, here are the lyrics!!

Jae Jin x Elle x J. Han Release New Single – “Stand with Me” [Free DL]

Here’s a surprise collabo coming out of the mid-Atlantic. Jae Jin linked up with singer Elle & rapper J. Han (of AMP) for this R&B/Hip-Hop ballad called “Stand with Me”. Production was co-handled by Sky Muzik & iTM. It’s a soothing track that only suffers from a few technical choices. I liked the blueprint of the song but thought the instrumentation and mixdown could have used just a little more polish. There’s a difference between sounding like a throwback and sounding dated, and this one leaned a little more towards the latter. On the other hand the vocalists sounded great, and Elle in particular matched the feel of the track well. Overall it’s a a pretty decent song PLUS you can DL the song for free here.

Spotlight: Sam Ock

Hello a-Tunes! We’re back with a brand new episode of Spotlight! We had the awesome chance to meet up with Sam Ock at the studio in Baltimore, MD as he took a break from recording to discuss a number of topics with us. You can learn about how he picked up so many instruments, where he stands with his Faith and his art along with his participation in the other musical groups Company Idyll and AMP. We covered a lot of ground but stay tuned till the end for an exclusive performance medley of some his songs.

Thank you so much to Sam for the interview!

AMP Behind the Scenes at the ‘See You In Heaven’ MV Shoot

It appears that one video wasn’t enough for the single ‘See You in Heaven’ by Sam Ock x JL x J. Han, better known as AMP. They just revealed some behind the scenes footage from a new shoot for the song. They stayed local to the DMV (DC, Maryland Virginia) area for this shoot, hitting up some famous spots while they were at it. They’ve outsourced the production this time and it looks like it’ll have a bit more polish to it. Stay on the look out, we’ll post it when it’s up!

Sam Ock x J. Han x CL Form a New Group – AMP

Christian musicians Sam Ock, J. Han (formerly known as Katalist), and CL (no not the leader of KPOP group 2NE1) have joined forces to form a new group called AMP (like the energy drink). AMP is an acronym for Anointed Music Productions. It seems like a natural progression since all the members frequently worked with each other in the past. Semi-cheesy name aside, the group has a diverse collection of talent so it’ll be interesting to see where they go from here.

If you’re interested you can pick up their self titled EP here for $5.

Sam Ock x J. Han x CL Release MV for ‘See You in Heaven’

You may recall that a month back we posted up a call from Sam Ock asking for anyone interested in being a part of the music video for ‘See You in Heaven’ to send him a clip. Well the MV is now complete and was released today.

The video is low-budget but cleanly done. The fan participation was a good move in keeping things fresh. CL really needs to step up his camera presence though. Dude looked like he was about to fall asleep half the time. Anyways it looks like it was a fun project, and content wise it is unapologetically christian so I imagine this will only further intrigue or disinterest you depending on your beliefs.

Sam, J. Han & CL are musicians who have a small buzz going on, especially in the mid atlantic region, and this may increase public awareness, though I imagine that was never really the point with this song.

How to be in Sam Ock x J. Han x CL’s Music Video

If you follow the Korean American christian music scene, you may have heard the song ‘See You in Heaven‘ by Sam Ock, J. Han & CL. It’s a fairly catchy track that has been making its way around online and the artists are putting together a music video for the track and are asking for your participation.

If you’re interested you can check out the instructions on how to be in it after the jump!
