The Videoless Youtube Remixes Round-Up 5/3/12

We did it before, a couple months back; bringing you a collection of remixes done by artists that chose to forgo creating a video too. Instead we get a mixture of static images, cover art, and if we’re lucky, a slide show of some type. This has been a staple of the digital age for Hip-Hop artists, as it’s too time consuming to make a video for all their mixtape-ready songs – whether or not you feel they are cutting corners is a completely different story. At the very least you can listen to the following in the background, knowing your not missing much by not paying attention to the (lack of) visuals!

Ed-Two Remixes “The Recipe” by Kendrick Lamar x Dr. Dre

Showdown:J-Ricz x Sizzle vs D-Pryde & Friends vs J-Reyez x Tommy C & Friends

It’s time for a  Showdown, where we have a little friendly comparison of artists that cover/remix the same songs and then vote for the one we think pulled it off better.

Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa’s “Young, Wild & Free” (featuring Bruno Mars) has been a pretty popular song on the radio the past few months – and it’s easy to see why with it’s catchy melody, easy hook and laid back raps. So we can’t say we’re too surprised to see a few remixes up on Youtube – making the song perfect candidate for our Showdown feature. What makes these remix/covers particularly interesting is that due to the nature of Youtube and copyright/licensing issues, each of the artists had the beat re-created to avoid being flagged on the flagship video streaming site; adding just an extra dashs of creativity and helping to keep each version distinct from the other.

J-Ricz x Sizzle

D-Pryde x Boogz Boogetz x Peter Kirk

J. Reyez x Tommy C x Tycoon x Hangman

So which group of artists had your flavor du jour? J-Ricz & Sizzle? D-Pryde & company? J. Reyez, Tommy C, and all the extra cameos? Don’t forget, you have so much power in your hands right now. Your vote will determine…. well, it only really determines who has the highest number of votes with no true qualitative value, but who cares! That’s what being Young, Wild & Free is all about right? Voting in a meaningless poll? Hello?… You still there?

J-Ricz Drops a “Heart Beat” Single

Bay Area Pop/R&B artist & producer, J-Ricz, has just released his latest single – “Heart Beat”. It’s another upbeat Pop joint from the singer, with guest features from Angelo Trinidad & J-Dutch. The new track is available from the usual variety of digital music retailers – so you can add the song to your dance playlist for just shy of a dollar. Sorry, no preview is available yet besides the short clips from iTunes & Amazon.

J-ricz Unveils the MV for “Real Love” ft Michelle Martinez

It’s been a couple months since we say the teaser video but here’s the official full version of “Real Love” by J-ricz featuring Michelle Martinez & J.Dutch. The Dance R&B track is undeniably catchy and the collection of artists make for a pretty decent team on this collab. I could be wrong, but I feel like this might be a fun song to hear live cause of the energy – not sure if all the artists ever had the opportunity to share a stage.

Mega Youtube Cover Round-Up – 10/12/2011

This here’s a big one. A dozen Youtube covers and remixes for your viewing/listening enjoyment. Some are better than others, in general I’ve loosely ordered them in descending order starting with the most enjoyed first. You all already know how I feel about the superfluous number of covers out there but regardless, don’t let me stop you!

The “Real Love” MV is Coming Soon by J-ricz x Michelle Martinez x J Dutch

Better late than never! J-ricz is preparing to release the MV for “Real Love” a song that dropped back in February also featuring Meesh and J Dutch. It looks like we can expect some crisp visuals and I have to say my interest is piqued. Unfortunately we’re only left with a delivery date of “Fall 2011″, so let’s hope it’s sooner rather than later!

I wanted to share with you my official teaser for my 3rd single “Real Love” music video featuring the talented bay area’s own Michelle Martinez & J Dutch. In life, we fall in love, we get hurt, and we try move on only to find out that some things are meant to happen. This music video is about finding out that true love finds us when we least expect it. Stay tuned for the FALL 2011 release!

Kreisha Says to Put Your “Hands Up”

They say good things come in small packages. That seems to be the case with young Kreisha, a 12 year old with a small stature but big voice. She’s just released a single called “Hands Up”, produced by J-Ricz & C-daq, collectively known as Rockus (and producers of “Last Call” by 4Play that we shared with you yesterday). This is a dance-centric track, heavy on style but still with a little room for Kreisha to use her instrument. It felt a little too old for the child singer but it’s a decided move away from the cover ballads she typically sings.

J-Ricz – “Cry” MV

Kid Hroes has yet another solid video production under their belt, the MV for R&B singer J-Ricz‘s “Cry” off his album Musicphiliac. The visuals are very simple but effective, making great use of head shots and emotional facial expressions. To be honest, it’s a breath of fresh air to see an R&B video that doesn’t involve a typical story line. The song is pretty strong in it’s own right as well though I could have done with a little less auto-tune.

Showdown: J-Ricz x Chris D vs Elle x Sky Muzik

Here we go, it’s time for another Showdown! You know the song “Last Christmas” by Wham? Well I don’t know about you but just as I do every year around this time, I’ve been hearing this song everywhere. So it’s no surprise when I started seeing the covers pop up on Youtube. Here are two very different renditions of the holiday favorite, one by J-Ricz and Chris D, and the other by Elle & Sky Muzik. The former is a more R&B type of ballad, done acapella with rich harmonies. The latter is a pop cover more faithful to the original with some modern embellishments and cuter, upbeat vocals that kind of has a KPOP vibe to it.

J-Ricz x Chris D

Elle x Sky Muzik

Personally for me, it really depends on my mood. I can see myself preferring either version depending on the situation. So which one did you like more? Vote!

Now, if I could only get this song outta my head!

J-Ricz Releases New Album – Musicphiliac

Late last month we posted about a Pop/R&B artist by the name of J-Ricz and his cover of the Taeyang hit “Wedding Dress”. Well he also has a new album that dropped yesterday entitled Musicphiliac. There are 12 tracks on the album of various different styles. You can preview some of the songs on his website, and pick up a physical or MP3′s at CD Baby, but it looks like your best deal is going to be from AmazonMP3.
