Jay Park Unleashes a “Demon” MV

KPOP boy band member turn international solo artist, Jay Park, has just posted up the music video for his latest English single – “Demon”. The dance-heavy track features some impressive choreography and a decently catchy tune though I found the visuals to be a just a tad underwhelming. The song is the result of his previously announced collaboration with veteran producer Teddy Riley. Glad the song finally saw the light of day and that it plays to Jay’s strengths.

The Youtube Top 40 Rap Remix Round-Up – 8/7/11

Another day, another endless batch of Youtube covers and remixes. Today’s theme is Top 40 Rap which of course includes remixes of the biggest names of late including Fab, Bad Meets Evil, Drake, Jay, Kanye and more. There are a few surprises in store including crooner Paul Kim showing his versatility by opting to spit a few bars, a conceptual remix by Triangle Offense and their ode to the Dark Knight, possibly the hungriest verses I’ve heard yet from the OnFire Ent crew, and that’s just to name a few. Check em all out below.

Jay Park Leaves Message for the Fans About Moving On

With the 2PM incident now almost a year behind us (not counting the rehash back in the winter), Jay Park has decided to make a formal statement on the issue, breaking the silence he’s kept for quite some time now. I admire the kid’s drive and attitude at this point. He doesn’t reveal any additional details but he’s right… it’s in the past. Let’s all move on and let it be about the music again.

From his website:

Before I move on to a new chapter in my life, I want to just say some things and put my past to rest.

First off, I’d like to apologize to all the fans and to 2pm for putting you guys through so much emotionally and mentally since last September. I’m sorry it had to come to a situation where we couldn’t be together and I want everyone to know that I have nothing but love and support towards 2pm. Whether you like them or not they are good kids who work hard and I don’t think anyone should take anything away from them. I also wish the fans wouldn’t fight and everyone can just get along and move on. Life is too short to be angry, and there are too many negative things in the world happening and to add to all that negativity is something I don’t want.

I understand that this might not be the answer to what some of you are looking for but to touch the subject again will mean hurting people that I do care about, be it fans, friends, ex colleagues, loved ones and I just don’t think its fair to activate another roller coaster ride just when everyone is starting their healing process and moving on. As long as I am in the clear with God, my family and my fans, it is sufficient for me.

Also I would like to add that I was once young and naive and said some things that got blown out of context but would like to add that I am proud to be Korean, I love Korea, my parents are Korean, and where ever I go, whatever I do, I will try to the best of my ability to represent Korea well. Last but not least I would like to thank my fans, you guys are the reason I am doing this now, every opportunity from now on that gets presented to me is all thanks to you guys and I’m trying to make you guys proud and I love you guys!

Thank you so much and I just hope everything from now on can be positive and that I can influence peoples’ lives in a positive way.

I’m heading for Korea in a couple of hours and hope to see you all!
Love and Peace,
Jay

You can read the Korean text after the break.

Jay Park to Work with Teddy Riley, Snoop & T-Pain

Whoa. If the information from AllHipHop is correct, it looks like KPOP’s fallen angel Jay Park is on his grind in full swing here in the states as he’s reportedly in the works with veteran Hip-Hop/R&B Producer Teddy Riley along with artists Snoop Dogg and T-Pain. How’s that for a comeback? Now, the pairing of big name producers and features is a formula that’s been attempted with asian crossover artists in the past to mixed success at best but there is one key difference this time around… Jay’s a native, or in other words more authentic by default. Good for Jay. Looks like there just may be life after JYP afterall.

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop/R&B producer Teddy Riley has teamed up with Korean superstar singer/rapper Jay Park to produce his new untitled album.

Park shot to fame in South Korea as a member of the chart-topping group 2PM.

The American-born B-Boy split with the group amidst controversy in 2009, after making controversial statements about Korea on his MySpace page.

He eventually left the group, but resurfaced in Seattle as part of the Art of Movement B-Boy Crew and through a variety of covers on YouTube.com.

Park’s cover of B.O.B.’s “Nothing On You” has received a staggering 4 million views alone, since being released in March.

Since linking with Teddy Riley, Park has completed tracks with Snoop Dogg, Daz, T-Pain, Krayzie Bone and others.

Additionally, Park has been tapped to star in Hype Nation, a flick about breakdancers from the East and the West.

“I scooped this guy up right away because he is an incredible talent and everybody wants to work with him in the U.S.,” Hype Nation executive producer Jason Lee told AllHipHop.com.

Park will return to Korea this June, where 70% of Hype Nation will be filmed.

Dumbfoundead to Collab w/ Clara Chung & Jay Park; Drop Album w/ Wax

We’ve got two new updates from Dumbfoundead today. First of all, he announced a new track that he’s working on that features the awesome Clara Chung and world renowned Jay Park. This is an intriguing collection of artists so it’s gonna be really interesting to see what comes out of this group! Look for the song to drop April 23rd.

Also on deck, is an album that dumb is working on with frequent collaborator Wax. The album should drop at the end of May so we have that to look forward to as well. This man keeps busy!

Jay Park to Star in the Film Hype Nation

For those of you keeping up with the oft-delayed, on again, off again film project Hype Nation, you’ll likely remember that first KPOP star Son Dambi was attached to the film, but after delays and scheduling conflicts, she had to drop out. Then rumors started circling that BoA may be involved, but those were quickly squashed… now it looks like Korean American Jay Park, formerly of 2PM fame, will star in the movie along with a member from an all female KPOP group yet to be announced.

I have my doubts about this movie but it’s good to see Jay continue to make strides in the entertainment industry, though it’s yet to be seen if it will be a successful endeavor or not.

Decipher x Johnnyphlo x Clara Chung x Jay Park & the Art of Movement to Perform at projectKoreaIII

That’s right friends, you read that right. In what is an incredibly stacked line up we got Decipher, Johnnyphlo, Clara Chung, Ailee, and an appearance from Jay Park aka Jaebeom the former 2PM member and his dance crew Art of Movement all performing at projectKorea, a huge event put on by the fine folks at the Rutgers University Korean Student Association in conjunction with allkpop. It’s being held this Saturday, April 3rd so if you’re anywhere near the Jersey area this is an event I highly recommend you do not miss.

Worst Ever: The Game, Twitter, and 2PM

Bet you never thought you’d see US rapper The Game, Twitter, and KPOP group 2PM in the same headline did you?

I saw this over at AngryAsianMan earlier today. Although it doesn’t really piss me off the incident makes me shake my head and sigh. Check out what he recently said on twitter when he decided to retweet a trending topic regarding 2PM and Jaebeom:

“#RT기 다릴게 박재범 기다릴게 2PM dont kno what dis trendin topic is or means but I like shrimp fried rice alot & smokin makes my eyes tight so I RT’d it”

I’m a fan of Game’s music but this was such a poor attempt at humor, especially on a public forum. I don’t believe the guy had any ill intent, rather he just isn’t aware of the insensitivity of his statement. At the end of the day it boils down to ignorance. Either way he inadvertendly helped support the cause for Jaebeom to a ton of his followers haha.

Jaebeom x Local Seattle News

So, I’ve refrained from writing about Korean-American Jaebeom leaving (being forced out of?) KPOP 2PM and all the drama that followed. While I do admit it was a rather large and complex ordeal, I think nearly every aspect of the situation is rediculously blown out of proportion, including everyone’s reactions to the group.

But I saw this little clip on OMGKPOP where a local news station in Washington actually covered the story..

What really caught my attention was how someone in his house was poking through the blinds and immediately shut them when they realized they were being filmed.

Regardless who was wrong or right, or what happened, it sucks to have to deal with consequences under a microscope.
