Jessica Sanchez Survives to Sing Another Week (Top 7 Redux)

After last week’s roller coaster of a night for our Jessica Sanchez, tonight’s results show offered a lot more peace and relaxation as Ms Sanchez did not even find herself in the bottom 3, with no risk of elimination. The young powerhouse vocal sails through to next week’s Top 6 on the strength of her performances, while Colton Dixon got the axe instead. Keep supporting her, everyone! The girl can definitely hold her own among all the competitors and let’s make sure she doesn’t have a premature exit. Head on over to MJBB for the full recap.

After getting through last week’s elimination by the skin of her teeth, Jessica Sanchez returned to the AI stage this week in a rematch of the Top 7 contestants. Our young star sang “Fallin” and “Try a Little Tenderness”, and did so with aplomb once again – although as we learned last week, we can never be sure of the outcome, regardless of performance. Stay tuned with us for tonight’s results, we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop.

Heejun Han may no longer be in the running to be your next American Idol, but it’s certain that he’s cultivated many friendships along the way. Here is one such example, a phone pic of himself and still-current-contestant Jessica Sanchez. We still have high hopes for the Ms Sanchez, and regardless of where there paths take each of them from here, we hope that they intersect again after this year’s AI train makes it’s last stop.

Say Cheese!

An Intense Night for Jessica Sanchez on Tonight’s Result Show of American Idol

That. Was. Close. I’m not sure what happened but in an emotional roller coaster of an evening, the Top 7 results show played out tonight on American Idol with a wild outcome. First, Jessica Sanchez found inexplicably found herself in the bottom 3. Then, it was determined that she was actually the one who got the least amount of votes this week – and outrage among the studio audience and the judges alike erupted. Lastly, as she was given the opportunity to try and sing for a coveted one-per-season judge’s save, she was quickly interrupted by the judges themselves, dismissing the entire ordeal and saying that there is no way they could let her go.

So there you have it, Jessica Sanchez still remains in the competition – but just barely. There are no second chances anymore – America… What The Deuce?

OK. If you’re not on the Jessica Sanchez bandwagon by now, then this performance just may change your mind. Jessica Sanchez attempted to tackle Jazmin Sullivan’s “Stuttering” – and did so with flying colors. R&B is definitely right lane for this young star – and we’d be completely surprised to see her not make it through another week. She got rave reviews from the panel all the way around! Team Jessica Sanchez.

Catch Up on Jessica Sanchez’s Week on American Idol – Top 8

With last week’s unfortunately (though not completely unjustified) departure of Heejun Han from American Idol, Jessica Sanchez remains as our only hopeful in this year’s national singing competition. For the Top 8 round, she once again tackled a Whitney tune, only this time it was the much more upbeat “How Will I Know”. How did she fare? Well let’s just say it was enough to last her another week, as she sailed in to the Top 7 safely, with ease.

Heejun Han Eliminated from American Idol Season 11

The road has to end for everyone but one in American Idol, and unfortunately that path has reached it’s conclusion for contestant Heejun Han. The Korean-American singer was voted off today, and the judges elected not to use their one-time save. Han struggled in recent weeks after gaining an early following in the audition rounds. His unique enthusiasm was coupled with a voice with potential, but still filled with many flaws when compared to some of his fellow contestants. Fear not though, you should be able to catch him in tour this summer with the rest of the finalists.

I guess it’s up to Jessica Sanchez now!

Watch Heejun & Jessica’s Performances from Last Nights Top 9 of American Idol

Tonight, we find out if our two contestants have survived another grueling week in American Idol-dom, but for now we can enjoy last night’s performances from Heejun & Jessica. Since MJ’s BB always does a great job on the recaps, I’ve included the excerpts regarding the two singers. For the rest, please do check out her blog. It seems like Jessica knocked another one out of the park, and Heejun, while improved, still has some work to do.

Heejun Han

“A Song For You” by Donnie Hathaway – After Jimmy and Steven called Heejun on not taking the competition seriously.  Jimmy says Heejun came into rehearsal with a “spanking new attitude” and it was nothing but praise from Jimmy and Stevie. But the performance has its usual flaws—pitch problems, lack of breath control, garbled diction. Heejun has got some raw material to work with—a lovely gravelly tone. Plus, he sings with a ton of emotion–both pluses on for Heejun. But the entire group blew smoke up his ass this week. Stevie and Jimmy even indulged in some arm-chair psychology “Heejun is so sensitive…I think he was just putting up a front.”  NO. He was giving his fans what HE thought THEY wanted! Only Randy would say that the performance “wasn’t perfect”. To say the least! A standing O? Really? Heejun could use some major constructive criticism, but the judges may not care for him enough. The judges spin the tale like they picked him for his buttery tone. Nope. It’s because he’s cute and lovable–like the adorable way he rattles off his numbers tonight. He is comic relief. As such, it’s time for him to go.

Jessica Sanchez

Sweet Dreams by Beyonce – Stevie thinks it’s brilliant that Jessica slowed the song down. Michael Orland tweeted that he arranged the song.  There’s also a set with doors she walks dramatically through, like a surreal dream. Jessica did what Hollie should have done–or have somebody do for her—rearrange the song so there would be no comparisons to the original.  There’s no doubt whatsoever that Jessica can sing. There’s nothing much to say about her performance. She’s pretty perfect. The judges compliment her for holding back. I guess only Erika gets the “you need to give us more” critique.  Randy calls her a born star and declares “she’s in it to win it”.

The Cover Music Videos Youtube Round-Up – 3/27/12

Music Video Tuesday! Ok, that’s not a real thing, but that’s our theme of today’s round-up of Youtube video covers. Admittedly, the last video isn’t exactly a music video so much as it is a gigantic mash-up of footage. But when you’re dealing with 50 different artists and trying to work all those clips together, we figure it’s just as much work as any other MV production, so we’ve gone ahead and included it too. Enjoy!

Results from Top 10 Week of American Idol for Jessica & Heejun

And here we are. Another week down, and the cast of American Idol Season 11 is down one more person in the quest to becoming this year’s most popular reality TV singer. Jessica Sanchez seemed untouchable, and for good reason based on last night’s performance of “Everybody Has a Dream”. Unfortunately, Heejun Han found himself in the bottom 3 this week after a lackluster performance that failed to wow the judges. Luckily, he barely escaped elimination this week, and instead Erika Van Pelt was given the boot.

Han’s quirky behavior and inconsistent performances have polarized the audience. It’ll be interesting to see how this continues to play out for both our contestants. But congrats to both for now, week 9, here we come!
