Details are a bit sparse right now, but Jihae has announced her involvement in a peace project called “Simon Says” with Filmmaker/Photog AnneMarie Lawless. The young girl featured in the video is Lawless’s daughter, Talullah. We’ll be sure to update you with more details as they become available. It’s hard to predict what Jihae will do next, but I suppose that’s part of the appeal to the mysterious artist.

Jihae Debuts the MV for ‘The Model’
Jihae has debuted the music video for her latest single from her Fire Burning Rain album that dropped last year. “The Model” visuals stars actress Paz de la Huerta, off Boardwalk Empire fame. Stylish, off-centre and a bit eccentric, all the elements are here to properly represent the singer and her music. The MV debuted on the Examiner, so check out their feature for a few more details.
Directed by Yelena Yemchuk (Smashing Pumpkins, Kings of Leon, Courtney Love) and starring Paz DeLa Huerta from HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” the video is as visually stunning as it is simplistic. With powerful color contrasts against muted backgrounds Jihae’s masculine-esque vocals stand in stark contrast to the soft images of the woman who command the screen. The film takes you on a journey of mystique into the mind of a superstar, focusing poignantly on the highs and lows of her psyche and painting a less than idealic picture of fame and all its underlying consequences.
Jihae to Premiere the ‘Fire Burning Rain’ Rock Opera in NY on September 8th
Last year, Jihae released the album Fire Burning Rain and as part of the promotions, put together a musical theater production to accompany the LP. The show is about to have another debut in a couple weeks at the Highline Ballroom in NY City on September 8th. The multi-media Rock Opera is a full scale theatrical showcase that tackles an abstract story. You can find more information and promotional videos after the break. Jihae Shares a Live Performance of “Lonely Fire”
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to see Jihae perform live you should check this clip out. Here she sings her tune “Lonely Fire” off her Fire Buring Rain album, at the Rockwood Musica Hall in NY. Wither her, I honestly never know what video edits are intentional and what is just the nature of the footage captured but this clip is kind of haunting yet draws you in. Jihae clearly gets lost in her art when she performs.
Jihae Releases Visuals for “Tuilerie”
Experimental rocker Jihae has just shared some visuals for the song “Tuilerie” off her Fire Burning Rain album. It’s a bit abstract and trippy, and definitely not conventional but that’s what helps it stand out. Pairing the dark, eerie footage against the hauntingly simple music was a great choice and drew me in. I honestly can’t tell if this is an official MV or visual art, or perhaps they are one and the same but it’s a novel way to experience the music either way.
Jihae Releases the MV for “My Love”
Indie rocker Jihae dropped a new album in September called Fire Burning Rain and recently dropped the music video for the single “My Love” from said album. Jihae is one of those artists that likes to use multiple mediums to convey her craft, which explains the abstract use of color and imagery in the video. It’s one of those things no one will probably ever fully understand except Jihae herself. I liked the song a lot but the video was a bit trippy.
