If you are Asian-American or have a fair amount Asian-American friends, you may have noticed that NBA’s latest feel-good story, Jeremy Lin, has been a huge hot topic as of late. He’s become a starter for the NY Knicks and has had some great games for several consecutive nights.
Well, the rising basketball star has certainly inspired a lot of people, including some of our artists. Already we’re beginning to see songs about Mr. Lin and we suspect it isn’t over yet. So this post will serve as a running collection of the songs, in reverse chronological order of release (Newest at the top). So far it’s Gowe and Jin, but I’m sure there”ll be more to follow!

JimmyBoi Drops the “HTown Thug” MV Featuring TDouble & The Grit Boyz
JB & company bring us another visual for the Southern, bass heavy track track called “HTown Thug” featuring TDouble & The Grit Boyz. If couldn’t already guess, the rappers take the opportunity to trade verses representing their city. Can’t say I’m loving this release but Southern Hip-Hop tends to be hit or miss with me anyway. Jimmyboi Presents the MV for “Drink My Problems Away”
This is the latest MV by Jimmyboi to promote his mixtape Free Jimmyboi that dropped just a couple weeks back. The song is called “Drink My Problems Away” where the recently released JB uses the instrumental for Yo Gotti’s “Messed Up” to craft his own quasi-reflective song. It’s not too bad of a watch and arguably one of his better tracks.
Jimmyboi Drops the Music Video to “My Grind”
Jimmyboi‘s team sure stays hard at work while he remains in detention. Sticking to their word, they have a new MV out for JB’s track “My Grind” with some special appearances by T Double and model Justene Jaro. This release is an appropriate testament to Jimmyboi’s commitment to his craft though I wouldn’t say it’s's particular inspired in either the audio or visual department. Enjoyable? Perhaps, though it’s not exactly a superlative in the creativity department. “My Grind” can be found on his recently released Free Jimmyboi mixtape.

Southern rapper Jimmyboi may be locked up behind bars, but that’s not stopping him and his team from staying on the grind – or hustle, rather. His new mixtape, appropriately titled Free Jimmyboi, is now available and features some heavy hitting guests including Slim Thug, Mistah Fab, and more. Interested? The ‘Free Jimmyboi’ Mixtape Announced for November 16th Release
If any of you Southern rap fans were wondering why things have been relatively quiet from Jimmyboi and his camp, it’s largely due to the fact that he has found himself in a bit of legal trouble earlier this year. That’s why they are releasing the Free Jimmyboi mixtape on November 16th featuring a number of remixes and originals. As part of the promotions, they are dropping several music videos too. JimmyBoi Releases MV for “Million Dollar Dreams” featuring Sean P & TDouble
Back in June, JimmyBoi released some footage from the shoot for his music video “Million Dollar Dreams”. The final video is finally out and it’s pretty much what one would expect. The song features Sean P and TDouble along with the requisite collection of video models. The video has a pretty humorous touch, spoofing the ridiculous get-rich-quick infomercials that play during the late night hours. This video isn’t going to win any artistic style awards, or points for originality but it serves its purpose.
