The Asian HipHop Summit makes a welcome return this fall with a heavily packed, month-long schedule that covers most of the Eastern United States. Participants include the Yellow Boyz, Lyricks, Johnnyphlo, Decipher, Yongie Phresh, and a slew of other artists. You’ll need to check the specific event details for information on which artists will be where and when. Either way, East Coast, prepare yourself for an onslaught of Hip-Hop! It’s been too long.

Brian Joo is halfway through his US mini-tour but what makes the last two show dates (in LA & NY respectively) particularly noteworthy is that he is linking up with some fellow local Asian-American talent at each stop. In the city of angels, he’ll be rocking the stage with Electro-Pop group IAMMEDIC and back on the east coast in the big apple, he’ll be joined by Decipher & Johnnyphlo. The rumor mill has been spinning that this is also likely Phlo’s last US show for some time so all the more reason for his fan’s to come through. Our very own GT has taken off the blogger hat for just a moment and returned to his roots to drop a new single about faith called “Speaking Up”. The song features three other gentleman that you may know by the name of Johnnyphlo, J. Han (of AMP fame), with singer Jae Jin contributing the chorus. Interestingly enough, the song was reportedly completed some time ago and is just now seeing the light of day. This song is from a mixtape called GT & Friends that should drop later this year. And for those paying attention, the four remixed Bone Thugs-n-Harmony’s 2007 song “I Tried” which is why it may sound familiar. Tamia’s “Officially Missing You” is definitely a classic, so switching it up in any way can be a risky move. Johnnyphlo and Schoolboy decided to do just that and thankfully their gamble paid off as they’ve kept enough intact from the original to pay it homage while making it the track completely their own. With anticipation building for Decipher’s next full length album, he’s gone ahead and dropped a mixtape to keep the fans satiated. It includes a lot of old work and some never before heard material. Most artists go out of their way to try and hide their first songs but I want to show yall out there how far I’ve grown with my upcoming album The Effect. That’s what this compilation, The Cause, is to me. Some songs such as One of them Days, Girl From Around The Way, Sinner’s Prayer, etc. were songs people have been asking about for years and I finally had the right reason to give it to them. Some other’s songs are purely for the sake of showing you how I rapped 10 years ago. Honestly, I know some of these songs are wack lol but I want you to feel my growth as an artist when you hear the new album.
