The Throwback Covers Youtube Round-Up 5/1/12

Welcome to Uno de Mayo! It’s another round-up, and since it’s already May and time seems to be flying by, we decided to scour Youtube for the covers of songs from years past. Many of these songs are two decades old or more, so these certainly qualify as ‘throwbacks’. Usher, Radiohead, Mr. Big, Selena, and more! I realize that some of you may be hearing these songs for the first time, which makes me feel a little sad and a little old, but there’s nothing like the classics!

At first we were considering putting together a Showdown for “Boyfriend” by the Beebz (since it’s been a while), but after looking at all the covers we’ve compiled we realized it’s just not feasible. Artists seem to love J Beezy just as much as the rest of his fans because we have 9 covers of a month old song – and I’m sure we missed a few along the way. As much as I like the East Coast, sometimes I have to admit that the West is wear a lot of great moments happen. Like the above group shot where a lot of favorite artists of yours and mine all crossed paths at a recent event, bringing together so many people under one roof. I think we’ll look back at times like these and recognize that it was the community that empowered our artists to find an international platform. We can only hope this is the beginning for the likes of David So, Clara Chung, Jayesslee, Cathy Nguyen, Travis & New Heights, and Joseph Vincent.

Joseph Vincent is Competing in Billboard’s Battle of the Bands 2012

Last year it was AJ Rafael‘s turn to represent in Billboard’s annual Battle of the Bands competition, but this year we have a new delegate in the form of Joseph Vincent. Like AJ, JV is in the contest via the Western conference – being directly pitted against his geographical counterparts Nude & Doe Eye.
