In July of last year, we shared with you a documentary that was in the works called Uploaded: The Asian American Movement. Now, all these months later, the film is complete and ready for it’s premiere at the Los Angeles Pan Asian Pacific Film Festival. You can now view the trailer, which gives us a look at all the interviews and the overlying focus of this film – a movement that is near and dear to our hearts at a-Tunes. Check out all the additional information after the break, and if you’re in LA, don’t miss the premiere on May 16th!
You may recall us sharing a goofy photo of JK Films and Eunice Kiss back in February. At the time, we had no idea what project that image was a part of, but now we do. It’s a Hip-Hop comedy track called “Name Brand”, making fun of the constant pursuit of name brand clothing and other items. The song is available as a free DL via bandcamp, but unfortuantely Eunice Kiss is featured as a model and not a recording artist, this time around. Bloopers after the break!
Happy Monday everyone! To start off your week on a fun note, we’ve put together a round-up of some Hip-Hop & R&B music video covers by some of your favorite Youtube stars. If you find yourself typically tuned into your urban radio stations, this collection should be right up your alley. I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll enjoy, if not all of em!
Whether or not you’re a fan of JK Films brand of comedy, you have to give them props for willing to go all out for their videos. They’ve frequently collabed with stars from all over the entertainment realm and it … Continue reading →
Joverdose of JK Films isn’t going to let his creative partner Bart Kwon be the only member of the comedy group to venture out into music solo. So he’s enlisted the help of Sophia KiddBeatz for some percussion of the vocal variety to provide the backdrop to his outing as a solitary lead vocal. This one is dubbed “Boom Boom Passion”, check it out for yourself.
JK Films have picked back up with their Lonely Island-esque brand of comedic music videos again, with the release of “Christmas Love” featuring fellow laugh-maker David So and Jason Chen. It’s a zany, borderline ludicrous holiday-inspired song and visual – but what else did you expect from this troupe? If you’d like to add this to your MP3 collection you can purchase the song from Bandcamp for an easy buck. Check the BTS footage after the break!
JK Films is one of those comedy troupes that you either love or hate but either way they are back at it again with a new upcoming single – “Christmas Love”, also featuring Jason Chen & fellow comedian/singer David So. What can we expect? It’s always hard to tell with these guys but some form of zany debauchery is sure to be present with this teaser is any indication. Be on the lookout for the full video to drop on Sunday, December 4th. You’ve been notified/warned.
Comedian Bart Kwan (of JK Films) decided to expand his horizons and try his hand at music. To get things started off on the right foot, he enlisted the help of IZ, Alyssa Marie & Decipher for a track called “Villian”. BTW, Alyssa def stole the show, largely attributed to the element of surprise. The girl can flow! Same time ya can’t sleep on De either – the dude always spits on point. How did Bart himself fare? Decently though his rhymes aren’t quite as polished as his features. It was a good look to get some vets on the track to balance things out. It’s a free DL via the bandcamp widget below!
That’s right folks. You’ve been hearing about it for months but the day has finally come for the release of the brand new, full length feature album Heavy Ghetto from the comedy rap trio known as the Notorious MSG. You get 10 zany tracks courtesy of members Hunan Bomb, Down-Lo Mein and Hong Kong Fever. The album is available on their website as well as the usual online retailers – iTunes & Amazon. Their humor isn’t for everyone but if you are one of their fans, this release is long overdue.
For more silly fun, check out their feature in the new JK Films short after the break.
Finally! After hearing about the album and MV for “Name” for months now, both have finally dropped. The MV is a collaboration with WongFu and it’s only more proof that their portfolio continues to improve. This MV has a great concept, matches the style of song, and effectively incorporates everyone involved with the project including all the band members and a cameo from Paul Dateh himself. It was a nice touch to see the band rocking out on office supply instruments. The heroine of the video is pretty cute too . Props both to the band and Wong Fu for a great release.
“Name” can be found on their full length debut, It’s All in Your Head which also dropped today – so pick up a copy! It’s got 11 tracks, is 11 bucks and has free shipping at the moment! The album also features Derek Kan of Magnetic North, Taiyo Na, Pigeon John, dumbfoundead, JK Films, Traphik, IZ, and verseatile. Support the band, support these artists.
