Oak & Gorski Re-Release Vienna to Venice

Crazy to think it’s already been 5 years since Oak & Gorski, then known as the Ken Oak Band, released the album Vienna to Venice. Though not the first album put out by the group, it was the first album that they released solely as a duo. Ever since then it’s been just the two of them – hence the re-christening of the name from Ken Oak Band to Oak & Gorski. It seems like they are making this a short run, limited release so if you never got a chance to hear some of their early work… now is as opportune time as any. Buy it here.

Live Oak & Gorski Performance of ‘Analog Girl’ in Philly Posted

Some of you may know the song ‘Analog Girl’, an older track by the duo Oak & Gorski from their album Vienna to Venice. The footage is from a gig in Philly yesterday, so this is is hot off the press! (That phrase is pretty antiquated now isn’t it? haha) I’m a pretty big fan of this song though it lost some of the atmospheric charm that the studio version had. These guys sounded great though, and that cello solo at the end was pretty sweet.

Critic’s Corner: Oak & Gorski – Good Advice, Bad Advice

o&g

I’ve been a huge fan of Ken Oak since I first heard End Credits in the earlier half of this decade. After seeing the Ken Oak Band a couple summers back in Anaheim, my appreciation for their sound and style only grew. The combination of Oak’s vocals & cello combined with Gorski’s acoustic guitar and back up vocals yielded a unique soothing sound that still remained catchy and engrossing. So now that the two musicians have re-branded themselves as Oak & Gorski how does their first major release in 3 yrs, entitled ‘Good Advice, Bad Advice’, hold up?

I’m sure you know the routine by now, find out after the jump!

WTF: Ken Oak – End Credits

For our second installment of Weekly Thursday Freebies we bring you one of Ken Oak’s earliest songs from 5ish years back. ‘End Credits’ was the first song I ever heard from Ken Oak and to this day it is still one of my favorites. Ken Oak is now part of Oak & Gorski, whose latest CD I am in the process of reviewing.

The song is a catchy track about finalizing the end of a relationship. You can watch the video on youtube first to see if you like it. If you do, you can find the link for the file containing both the music video and the single after the break.

Oak & Gorski album preorder

These are the last couple of days to pre-order Oak & Gorski’s upcoming album, “Good Advice, Bad Advice” and get it autographed by the artists themselves!

If the album is anything like their past album it should be a great, chill, catchy album. The CD ships March 26th.

Ken Oak Band to release new album and band name

Ken Oak Band

The Ken Oak Band has just announced via Myspace that they will be releasing a new album on March 26th. Also, it seems they will be rebranding themselves as Oak & Gorski.

Personally I can’t wait for the album. These two create great music. But I do question the move to renaming their band. Although I do understand that they are very much a duo and deserve equal billing, changing the band name after all these years may set them back in terms of recognition and word of mouth.

Read the myspace bulletin after the break.
