Kina Grannis Performs Live on the Ellen Show

We told you it was gonna happen, and now you can see for yourself. Youtube darling, Kina Grannis had the awesome chance to be invited to the Ellen Show where she talked a bit about her music video for “In Your Arms” and proceeds to perform the track live on the show. And you know what? She deserves every second of the spotlight. Don’t miss out on the clip from today’s show below. Congrats to Kina and her team!

Kina Grannis to Perform “In Your Arms” on the Ellen Show

She isn’t the first of our stars to earn the opportunity to perform on the Ellen Show, but she’s certainly one of our favorites. As you can see from her tweets, Kina Grannis is stoked about learning she’s been booked on Monday’s taping of Ellen DeGeneres’s show, where she’ll be performing her latest single “In Your Arms“. I’m not exactly a daytime TV talkshow type of viewer, nor do I own a TiVo, so I may have to break out the trusty VCR and tape this one. Or Hulu… yea, we’ll do Hulu. Don’t miss out! We’ll do our best to get a clip up afterwards too.

Kina Grannis Releases MV for “In Your Arms”; Featured on MTV’s The Real World

By now, most of you should know I’m a sucker for creatively executed and produced music videos. You should also know I’m partial to the charm of Kina Grannis. That’s why the MV for her latest single off her Stairwells album, “In Your Arms”, is appealing to me on pretty much every level. It’s cute, colorful, and imaginative, and if you check out the BTS featurette after the break, you’ll see it was a pain staking process to bring you the visual you see here today.  A huge props to Kina and her team, the video project turned out incredible! Even after 18 months, the promotions for the album are still providing us with gems like these.

In other big and related news, the song was also featured on last night’s episode of the long running reality series, The Real World, on MTV.

Kina Grannis Wins the MTV O Music Award for Best Web Born Artist

In honor of the digital age, MTV has launched a new awards ceremony dubbed the MTV O Music Awards.

The O Music Awards: Offbeat, Outrageous, Online
The O Music Awards celebrates the best in digital music – from the top artist on Twitter to the most innovative music app…

One of the evenings big winners was one of our personal favorites, Kina Grannis, who walked away with the title of Best Web Born Artist. Keeping with the times, both the presentation/announcement by Kelly Clarkson and acceptance by Kina were done via webcam. But we don’t think it’ll be too long before she’s walking the red carpet for one of the networks bigger events in the future. Congrats to Kina, she deserved it!

Mega Youtube Cover Round-Up – 10/12/2011

This here’s a big one. A dozen Youtube covers and remixes for your viewing/listening enjoyment. Some are better than others, in general I’ve loosely ordered them in descending order starting with the most enjoyed first. You all already know how I feel about the superfluous number of covers out there but regardless, don’t let me stop you!

Jin “Disses” Youtube Stars

Jin must have been real bored. His latest video is a humorous “attack” at his fellow internet-era contemporaries. The 4 minute freeverse includes mentions of Joseph Vincent, JR Aquino, AJ Rafael, David Choi, Victor Kim, Kina Grannis, Erika David, Jayesslee, J. Reyez, D-Pryde, Dumbfoundead, Crazed, Traphik, Toestah and more. Only, before anyone jumps to conclusion, it’s all a roundabout way of acknowledging and recognizing his friends and colleagues for doing their thing in a new age of entertainment. It’s a backhanded diss, if you will.

Kina Grannis Interviewed & Performs on What’s Trending

Web series What’s Trending had a quick little interview/performance session with Kina Grannis where she hints at some big upcoming news and then proceeds to do what she does best, singing. Continuing promotions for her latest single off the Stairwells release, Kina gives an unplugged acoustic performance of “The One You Say Goodnight To“. Good song, good performance, good (video) production values… I can dig it.

The All-Female Youtube Cover Round-Up – 8/13/11

Here we go folks. Just in time for the weekend we have another Youtube cover round-up with today’s common criteria being this is an all female affair. That’s right, there’s nary a Y chromosome in this batch – so what does that present us with? We have the return of Kina Grannis, a pair of songs by Jenny Suk, Cate Song doing Beyonce unplugged, and a couple of collabs by Megan Lee/Shin-B and Nessa Rica/Melissa Polinar. Check them all about below and after the break!

*Note: It’s kind of interesting to see “Uncharted” and “Best Thing I Never Had” have an eerily similar chord progression.

A Live Performance of “Without Me” by Kina Grannis

In their 2nd feature of acoustic pop singer Kina Grannis, the Subway Sessions film the singer performing “Without Me” at the West 4th station in New York. The song is another track from her Stairwells album and this is a recommended watch as she sounds great, especially once the ambient noise dies down. For those that missed the first clip released from the series, be sure to check out her performance of her latest single “The One You Say Goodnight To“.

Kina Grannis Debuts the MV for “The One You Say Goodnight To”

Just last week, we saw a live clip of Kina singing her song “The One You Say Goodnight To”, and it looks like the track is indeed the next official single off her Stairwells album. Below is the latest MV (featuring Chester See) from the rising singer/songwriter, and I’m happy to say it retains her simple but charismatic charm and sensibilities found in her previous visual offerings. The MV debuted on MTVu and was even featured on the front page of MTV today – with the Youtube release slated for tomorrow. But for those who can’t wait for the video to show up in their YT subscriptions, you can check it out below!
