MV Released for the Laura Song Assisted “Pearl” by Akshan

Right off the bet I should preface this post with the fact that Laura Song is nowhere to be seen in this video. No features, appearances or cameo. But we still thought the video was post worthy since the track features Laura (as we previously posted). Unfortunately, it’s not a full blown feature either, as she plays more of supporting vocalist role – leaving us wanting to hear a lot more. Hopefully the next bit of news we have to share on the R&B songstress has her in a much more prominent spotlight.

Laura Song Featured on ‘Understand The Vision [Vol.3]‘

There’s a new mixtape making the rounds called ‘Understand The Vision [Vol.3]‘ by Arsonal Productions & DJ Inkognito. To be frank, we aren’t so much interested in the tape as whole but two tracks in particular stuck out, “Cake” and “I Swear”. Why is that? Well it features the DMV’s Laura Song, whom we have yet to actually hear a studio solo joint from. They are shorter tracks, likely to accommodate the vast quantity on the whole tape but from what is there, Ms Song sounded great. Will someone please help jump start Laura’s career? We want to hear more!

Check out tracks 13 & 14 to hear what we mean, you can also download the tape from DatPiff.

Laura Song Features on “Pearl” and “Californicate” by Akshan

Laura Song may have been a bit quiet in terms of her own material, but she can be heard on two new tracks by Akshan – “Pearl” and “Californicate” – off his album Island Rocker. The two R&B singers make a strong team and her contributions added a lot to both singles, the combination of her sultry soul with Akshan’s island influence is a welcome pairing. Both songs can be heard and purchased via the bandcamp widgets below or the iTunes & Amazon links. Hopefully we’ll see her promoting her own work soon!

The Creative Youtube Remixes Round-Up – 9/26/11

Today we chose to showcase some of the more creative covers/remixes we’ve come across in the past couple weeks. Each of the following renditions are different enough from the original – either in arrangement, instrumentation, genre, etc that we thought you shouldn’t miss them. Jane Lui gives an incredible interpretation of “Moves Like Jagger”. One Way takes it back with some interpolation of R&B classics. JV stays a bit more contemporary but mashes up a couple Drake hits on the acoustic 6-string. Laura Song & friends give an intriguing performance powered by iPads. And lastly, Maribelle takes an FM song and changes up the genre – leaving only the beat in tact. Check them all out!

Laura Song Sings for the 2nd Klassic RNB Cypher

What, you thought only rappers could have cyphers and get a movement going on Youtube? You’d be mistaken my friend, as R&B singers have jumped into the game, adopting the Youtube cypher format for themselves and finding yet another way to show off their talent. I haven’t gone through all the entries to this one, so I imagine there is more Asian-American talent to see but I wanted to showcase Laura Song’s entry into the 2nd Klassic RNB Cypher. They were instructed to use the beat by Klassic and craft their own song to it and Laura kills it! This girl’s got so much soul. See her entry below:

Laura Song Featured On “Don’t Let Me Down” By K-Beta

Soul/R&B Songstress Laura Song is featured on a track by Hip-Hop artist K-Beta. Some of you may recognize Laura from Youtube, where she was also included in that huge mega collab of YT artists covering “We Are the World“. The song “Don’t Let Me Down” has been leaked by the artist and Laura’s soulful voice is a perfect match for this track. This is seriously a nice song. Props to both the artists involved!

Get it HERE.

Melissa Polinar x Chris Cendana x Stacy Dudero x David Choi x Jessica Sanchez x JRA x Thia Megia x AJ Rafael x Laura Song + 48 Other Artists Cover ‘We Are the World’

A ton (57 Total!) of Youtube artists all came together to sing a cover of the hugely talked about Michael Jackson song ‘We Are the World’. Mirroring the recent remake effort, these artists have all lent their talents to show their unification in heailng and rebuilding the earthquake ravaged nation of Haiti. It’s a pretty incredible effort considering the sheer number of talent participating, but seemingly well worth it. Some of our favorite artists participated including Melissa Polinar, Chris Cendana, Stacy Dudero, David Choi, Jessica Sanchez, JR Aquino, Thia Megia, AJ Rafael, and Laura Song.
