The Girls & Guitars Youtube Covers Round-Up – 4/18/12

Tonight, we decided to go with a more feminine direction, and rounded up an all-female ensemble of videos that features the classic 6-string. Everything from a song from AMC’s Mad Men to Bon Iver to Bob Dylan to Britney Spears is represented by these lovely ladies. I’ve heard some say they find it very attractive when a girl can play the guitar, if that be you, then you’ll surely enjoy this bunch.

Lily Bee Unveils the Music Video for “Up”

Those who have a distaste for an upbeat and cheery disposition may want to skip this post. At the risk of turning that frown upside down, Lily Bee has released the music video for her song “Up”, from the 2010 Daydream at Midnight album. Lily continues to inject a charming sense of nostalgia and innocence into her work, and it’s a refreshing change of pace for this writer. This video may not be anything fancy, but it’s well done and a pleasant watch.

Lily Bee Gives Sneak Peek of Studio Version of “Carnival”

It was only a few weeks ago when Lily Bee unveiled the demo for her song “Carnival”. Now, a few new details have emerged and it appears the song will be included in her upcoming sophomore album, Age of Exploration. This version of the track is obviously a lot more refined, being properly tracked in the studio and all, and we’re excited to hear the album in it’s entirety upon completion.

Lily Bee Invites you to the “Carnival”

The one and only Lily Bee has a new demo song for you and this one is a gentle, light hearted song calld “Carnival”. It’s a sweet, playful affair that does it’s name justice, invoking memories of those childhood trips to the Summer Fair. Or maybe that’s just my overactive imagination. Either way, you can DL the song for free via Soundcloud. If you’d like to read along with the song, lyrics are available after the break.

The Non-Top-40 Youtube Cover Round-Up – 3/4/12

We decided to switch things up a little bit, and only share songs that aren’t exactly radio chart toppers. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to hear any of these songs on the radio (even when they first debuted). Now just because these songs weren’t spun on national airwaves doesn’t mean they should be ignored. They just didn’t have the marketing push to get them up on that national level or were sungs by niche, independent artists themselves. The only semi-exception is the medley that Jeremy Passion sings of songs by popular artists that were never promoted.

The Throwback Covers Youtube Round-Up

Hello again. Today we have batch of throwback covers for your listening/viewing enjoyment courtesy of our artists and their Youtube accounts. Now, when we say throwback we mean songs that have to be well over a decade old. So anything pre-2000 goes, definitely nothing newer. Now, it’s be expected that some will appreciate some songs more than others, with the term classic meaning different things to different people. The biggest caveat, however, is that most of these covers can’t compare to the originals… but regardless, peruse through the bunch and check out your favorites below!

Lily Bee Sings About “Home”

This is a quick performance clip of Lily Bee’s “Home” from her 2010 Daydream at Midnight album. It’s signature Lily with a soothing guitar and her trademark warm but raspy vocals. If you’re in the Southwest and interested in seeing the artist live then you’re in luck because she’ll be touring in your area this month. Check her website for more details.

Lily Bee Shares a Demo of “Stardust”

Lilian Bui, better known to most of you as Lily Bee, is gearing up to record and release a new album – and as part of the process, she’s put together a few demos to help set the foundation for the new project. The first audible glimpse is in the form of a song called “Stardust”, a rather sleepy, calming song that serves as a perfect fit for the singer’s jazzy vocals. Keep in mind, it’s a demo version, so the quality isn’t super polished, but it gives you a good idea of where things are headed. You can DL the demo from her soundcloud.
