Artist & Producer Alan Wilkis enlisted the help of Bay-area Rapper Lyrics Born, along with White Hinterland, for his song “Shadow”, the second chapter of his body of work known as Prints. Wilkis released a visual narrative for the single, but neither LB or any of the artists involved are present. While mildly disappointing, it makes sense because otherwise it may not have been the arresting watch that it is now.

Latyrx Debuts the MV for “Call to Arms”
Two months ago we first heard Latyrx‘s (Lyrics Born x Lateef) long overdue to the scene with new material – “Call to Arms“. Two weeks ago we saw the behind the scenes footage from the MV shoot. Today, we have the actual video in it’s completed form. The group takes a simple concept and executes it sharply, with the close up shots overlayed with various footage of uprising and social protest. It’s a fitting video for a passionate song.

March brought us the first brand new single from Latyrx (Lyrics Born x Lateef the Truthspeaker), the rousing Hip-Hop track – “Call to Arms“. Now the duo is planning to drop the music video on May 1st, in just about a week’s time. Lyrics Born featured for Mocean Worker along with Mindi Abair for a song called “My Own Little World”. The help of animator Peter Michail was enlisted, and the final product is the following video for the single. It’s a mix of typography, funky cartoon network like visuals and a touch of pop art style. It’s definitely an entertaining viewing, so have it!

Catch the Highlights from Lyrics Born’s Variety Show Season 5 Release Party
To kick off the launch of last month’s LB Variety Show Season 5 Mixtape release, Born, his wife Joyo, and the crew held a release party and made sure to execute things in their signature style. Check out the following footage taken at the Hopmonk Tavern in Sebastopol, CA, where you can hear songs both old and new from Mr. L Beezy and company. LB always seems to give 110% into his performances, I need to make it a point to catch a show in the near future.

Bay area based Hip-Hop group, Latyrx, have dropped a new Live Performance album from their appearance at Google back in December. After hearing about it over the course of the past couple months, Lyrics Born has released his new mixtape – Lyrics Born Variety Show Season 5: On The Floor. As you probably deduced from the title, this is the 5th installment in this particular mixtape series, with mix work done courtesy of DJ Ice Water and all the songs reworked into the 2-step/boogie genre. The 24 track release has a ton of features including his wife, Joyo Velarde, among others. It’s a free DL courtesy of Prefix Mag.

Latyrx (LB x Lateef) Release the “Hardship Enterprise” Music Video
Lyrics Born & Lateef the Truthspeaker have been known to collectively go under the Latyrx moniker, and that’s the route they chose to travel for the promotion of “Hardship Enterprise” off of Lateef’s recent Firewire album. The duo trade verses over an intense track, with the music video serving more as a psychedelic visualization than a regular lipsync visual. It’s hypnotically trippy.
