Maniac (of New Dynasty) Releases “Just Wanted Love” with JD

Maniac (of the South Korean Hip-Hop group New Dynasty with Chan), just released a new track called “Just Wanted Love”, featuring JD. This one is in all English, so there shouldn’t be any comprehension problems for most of our core readership. Maniac decided to keep things smooth for this joint, gearing the song to those of the fairer sex.

Real talk?
To the ladies, dont be mad its only a song (for most) lol
I know my guy butcher’d da Engrish language on some wordz lol but

Maniac Shares “Bout to Go Down”

Kyopo MC, former Uptown member, and group-mate to Chan on New Dynasty, Maniac, has posted up a solo joint called “Bout to Go Down”. It seems this is just a rough cut but Man just wanted to get some things off his chest and put the track out there. His Midwest flow has always been a dynamic listen, and this continues with this joint. I’m looking forward to hearing the completed version whenever it drops.

Chan of New Dynasty Shares Thoughts on the N-Word

I saw this clip a couple days ago where Chan & Maniac were being interviewed as New Dynasty on a radio show. The hosts decided to take the opportunity to ask Chan on a somewhat recent decision for him to use the N-Word. There was no bad blood or ill-intent with the question, just a inquisitive discussion on it’s use and a little bit of context behind it. Singer Paul Kim has recently publicly stated his distaste for the word by his kinfolk,  and I know of folks who fall on both sides of the debate as to it’s usage, what about you?

Passport: New Dynasty (Chan x Maniac) Release New Single – “That’s Alright”

We’re kind of playing catch up with the news on our artists abroad, but recently Chan & Maniac, formerly of Uptown and now known as the duo, New Dynasty, dropped a new single called “That’s Alright”. It’s an R&B/Hip-Hop jam that makes a solid radio single and provides something a little smoother for their more general music fans. It’s available via digital korean retailers, so if you know how to get it, please do! The track features KPop/R&B singer JD on the chorus.

[Album Release] New Dynasty (Chan x Maniac) – Body Language

Korean-American’s Chan & Maniac may not be a part of the revived UPT any longer, but they are continuing to make moves over seas in Korea with the release of their newly formed group’s debut Body Language. Collectively the two are now known as New Dynasty. The release is more of a mini-album with 7 tracks plus 3 instrumentals for your enjoymentt. The album is available in Korea already and on the 20th for international orders via YesAsia.

Maniac Interviews w/ Half Korean

Some of you may not be as familiar with Maniac, an MC most recently known for being part of the re-incarnated UPT (Uptown) along with Chan & Swings. The group has since dissolved (again) but through this new interview with HK you can learn a little bit about the artist – including his upbringing, family, thoughts & experience with the Korean industry and perhaps most importantly his future work wit Chan in their group New Dynasty. Here’s a sneak peek:

Which of your tracks are you most proud of?
It is actually a track called “Now I Know” and is supposed to release in the next few weeks.

The reason I’m proud of that song is because it is a song that I actually made in the underground with no input from any label owners, producers, etc. Me and Snacky Chan remade it and made it our title song for our new album.

Just ‘Cause: A VLOG Update from Chan in Korea

For those of you wondering how Big Chan was doing in Korea, well it looks like the guy has really cut back on the snacks and ain’t so big anymore haha. It’s good to hear from him though! In this VLOG update from the studio in Korea he talks a little bit about what he’s been up to, how he’s doing and what his plans are from here. (Dropped out of UPT, new group with Maniac, etc). Sounds like he may not be back in the states for a while since things seem to be going pretty decently for him.

Chan & Maniac (Uptown) Release the “Birthday” MV

Last year, Chan made a surprise move when he debuted with the newly reincarnated Uptown with Swings & Maniac and founding member Chris. Well it was rumored that Swings had been kicked out of the group and sure enough he is not present for UPT’s latest album Surprise and the single “Birthday”.  The song is actually closet in style to the original Uptown from 1997, bringing that old school R&B sound back. It’s cool to see Chan & Maniac continue to pursue things in Korea although they’ve had lukewarm success at best so far.

Uptown is back with their 7th album entitled ‘Surprise!’. The group is now narrowed down to three members, Maniac, Chan, and Brownie. This is the title track entitled ‘Birthday’ which features comedian/singers ‘UV’.

WTF: Uptown – 흑기사 (Black Knight) MV

So some of you may remember earlier this year when we reported Chan had joined the new reincarnation of the Korean group Uptown. They’ve dropped a couple singles and released some MV’s but a new fact was recently revealed last week about the MV for their debut single Black Knight.

In an interview, Christina Chung (who has worked with Chan in the past) revealed that she had an uncredited, impromptu cameo in the video. She stated that while visiting Korea, Chan asked her to come through the video set and hang out, but when she arrived she was immediately cast into one of the scenes of the video. Of course we had to watch the video back and look for her and guess what? Here she is:

It’s a humerous story but great to see friends helping each other out!

So for this Week’s Thursday Freebie we present you with the music video for download. Link is after the jump!
