JL has got a new EP in the works called Murdertown and the first single has just been released with a MV to match. “Clash of the Titans” features J’s frequent partner in rhyme and fellow VA to Korea transplant, Manifest. True to their style, the song is an exhibition of lyrical prowess more than anything else. If ya feeling the track, it’s already available for purchase via JL’s bandcamp, check the widget below.

Sneak Peek at Verseatile’s Music Video for “Who We Are”
Verseatile is getting ready to unveil his next visual project for the single “Who We Are” off of his Worlds Apart EP from earlier this year. The original track features Manifest and JoAnne, the latter who will be definitely making an appearance based on the teaser above. No word if Mani is gonna feature too (considering he’s in the motherland ATM, but it wouldn’t be the first time Verse has released an MV without one of his co-stars. But speaking of JoAnne, some of you KPOP fans from the early 2000′s may find her vaguely familiar. It’s because nearly a decade ago she had a moderately successful albeit short career overseas as a budding young pop star. Check after the break for a reminder, but she’s sure grown up!
Manifest & JL Featured on Seoul Cypher Volume 3
Came across this dope clip of Manifest & JL when they appeared on a Hip-Hop web-series based out of South Korea called Seoul Cypher. Mani steps up first, followed by JL and the host Pinnacle The Hustler closing it out with the third and final (and surprisingly bilingual) verse. Nothing fancy here, just some raw lyricism like they used to do in the good ol’ days haha. Now’s probably a good time to remind you to check out their joint mixtape that dropped earlier this year.
Lookin’ Back: Lyricks & Manifest – “Gift” (2006)
Time sure flies. “Gift” by Lyricks & Manifest is one of those early videos to go “viral” before viral videos really existed. It was recorded back around 2006 over the instrumental to Eminem’s “When I’m Gone“, and at the time social networking basically included AIM and maybe Xanga and Myspace depending on who you talked to. But this video still got passed along like crazy – especially among the Korean-American youth of the time. It’s kind of funny that both Lyricks & Manifest started off as an early Youtube hit but never really became a staple of the then budding online video site. There are pro’s and con’s to that but regardless the two have been making good music for years now and although they’ve grown as artists, this video is a testament to the strength of their earlier work as well. The two have gone on to form the Beautiful Cycle & SuperNoVA collectives, with Manifest doing his thing overseas with JL & company while Lyricks continues to hold it down stateside. Wow… 2006 seems current but it’s already half a decade ago. It’s fun to Look Back ain’t it?
[Album Release] JL x Manifest – Pull.Haul.Junkies Mixtape [Free DL]

Two-thirds of the Beautiful Cycle (JL x Manifest) camp has been out in Korea, but that hasn’t slowed down their grind one bit. There are a ton of supporting characters here too including Lyricks (of course), Khovito, MYK, Jin, Petey-O, C-Note and more. We’ve heard a couple tracks on here before including “Bloodsport“, “It Was Written“, and “Scarves“. It’s a free DL, check the Bandcamp widget below.

[Single Release] Manifest x Jin x JL x Lyricks – “It Was Written” [Free DL]
Here’s the first cut off the Pull.Haul.Junkies mixtape by Manifest & JL, due tomorrow (5/31). It’s a remix of the Damien Marley track “It Was Written” that features Jin & Lyricks as well. The four MC’s went in hard on this one – a good look & dope international collab from VA to Hong Kong to South Korea. But don’t take my word for it, check it out yourself – it’s a free DL.
[Music Video] Magnetic North x Taiyo Na x Jin – “I Got My”
The folks behind the Home:Word album, Magnetic North & Taiyo Na have finally put out the music video to their song “I Got My” featuring Jin. But I doubt you’re ready for what you’re about to see as the crew has dug deep and reached out to all their contacts, friends, affiliates, etc to be a part of this MV. There are cameos from the Blue Scholars, Denizen Kane, Conchita Campos, DFD, Christina Chung, FM, Thomas Apartment, James Ha, Vienna Teng, DanAKADan, El Gambina, Cynthia Lin, Dawen, Bambu, DJ Phatrick, Kiwi, Heather Park, Vudoo, Lyrics, Manifest, Alfa, AJ Rafael, Jay Legaspi and a whole lot more. Those are just some of the musicians, there are a ton of activists, media folk, dancers, artists, students, educators, and more who also had a role. This is easily one of the dopest concepts put to music and unifying MV’s I’ve seen all year. Great release.

New Single from Manifest x C-Note – “Let God” [Free DL]

VA’s C-Note & Mani (who’s still doing his thing out in Korea) have just dropped a track called “Let God”. If you couldn’t tell by the title, the two emcees take a few minutes to reflect on their faith over the beat “Arabian Crime” by Nefarious. It’s chill, conscious, introspective and an overall good listen, especially for those that can relate to the topic at hand.
