We’re still catching up on the ever growing list of covers and remixes that we come our way everyday, but the common theme among this post’s videos is the fact that they are all dance/electronica/pop related in their original forms. We’ve got everything from the dubstep vibes of Skrillex to the dance influenced stylings of Kelly Clarkson’s more recent single. While some have retained some resemblance to the originals, most have been flipped in a pretty drastic way.
Sea-town’s Massiah has a new mixtape out with the ominous title of Welcome to Shadowville. Length-wise, it’s more of an EP, coming in at just 8 tracks. Mass’s flow is polished though the production values of the release could use a little more elbow-grease as it definitely has that bedroom-studio type of sound. If you’re a fan of solid underground Hip-Hop, then you may want to consider checking this one out.
Seattle’s (who is going through a massive snow storm at the moment, stay safe and warm up there!) Massiah is taking part in a promotional contest called “Don’t Fu[n]k Up Our Beats IV“, and the following mini music video is his entry into the series. The watch is a bit non eventful but Mass’s flows were on point, minus that quasi-singing. It’s stuff like this that makes me how remember how much I appreciate Hip-Hop, cyphers, battle raps, and all.
Sometimes we come across some material that just makes us go ooooph. This is one of those moments – a freeverse drop by Massiah. I’m a lyrical, boom-bap, technical rap lovin’ dude at heart and Mass gave me a few moments to remember why with this clip. I’m actually not so crazy about the double time redux he threw in at the end, it was solid and all but his delivery lost some of it’s intensity. I hope he’ll aim to be more active from here on out.
Seattle’s Massiah, who isn’t the most active artist to promote himself, has seemingly decided to step things up and drop an official mixtape entitled Killing 3 Personalities: Volume 1. There are a TON of songs and features on this release, including a number of names I vaguely recognize from the AznRaps forums back in the day. Clocking in at 35 tracks, there’s a lot of material here – available for purchase via Bandcamp. It’s too bad Mass is a bit underexposed, but hopefully more drops like this will move to change that.
Nam, a Vietnamese-American MC from Seattle had the opportunity to talk with Massiah on behalf of AznRaps. It’s an in-depth feature and it really helps you get acquainted with the artist if you didn’t already know. In the first half he discusses his own music but goes into detail on his thoughts on the music industry and it’s acceptance of Asian-American artists. A bit lengthy of a watch but definitely meaty.
Shadowville Productions has been holding a contest called ‘Make-A-Hit’ in recent years to showcase talent and help spread their production brand, allowing musicians to use a Shadowville beat and submit a video entry for a chance at various prizes. This year, Asian American artists Lorenzo & Massiah have made it into the finals with their submission ‘Tuesday’.
So if you’re feeling the track, you can support them by heading on over to the contest website and voting for them.

We now ask you to carefully listen to and view the six finalist videos in an unbiased manner and help decide on the winner (you can use the decision factors mentioned above to help). Please do not bother voting multiple times — the system is designed to track duplicate votes via multiple techniques and will not count multiple votes from the same voter. Cheating will result in a banning of your account or access to the Shadowville website.
