Showdown: New Heights vs Megan Lee vs Victor Kim x Andy Lange

Welcome to another episode of Showdown, where we have a little friendly comparison of artists that cover/remix the same songs and then vote for the one we think pulled it off better.

We were kind of surprised ourselves when we realized that we’ve never had a showdown for the song “Someone Like You” by Adele. A lot of artists have already covered the song, but we still had a few more to share so rather then bunching them up in a round-up – we decided to do a quick little Showdown feature. Some members of the band New Heights are going up against young Megan Lee and a tag team of Victor Kim and Andy Lange. Theres something to appreciate from all the covers but the question is; which one did you enjoy the most?

Victor Kim x Andy Lange

Did New Heights tug at your heart strings? Or maybe Megan Lee’s beyond-her-age vocals gave you goosebumps? How about the dynamic team of Victor & Andy? Put in your vote for your favorite so the winner can sleep just a little bit more soundly knowing they’ve won an informal competition that doesn’t really matter all that much. It’s all in good fun though!

Megan Lee Shares the Lyric Video for “In the Future”

“In the Future” is a song that Megan Lee wrote a couple years back to encourage and support her younger sister. It’s a touching, heart warming song that reveals the likely importance of family in her life. Sappy, you say? Perhaps, but I’d argue that was completely the point. Considering that Lee wrote this at such a young age, I’d say this is a fairly impressive piece of work.

Discover Megan Lee’s “Destiny” [Music Video]

The youthful Megan Lee has decided to celebrate her birthday with the launch of her new music video for her single, “Destiny“. As the previously released preview suggested, the teen star and her team chose to go a different route this time by going in a slightly more mature direction to match the inspirational tone of the track – a good choice. And to be quite frank, this may be my favorite visual release by Megan yet. Not a bad way to kick off a bday, and we at a-Tunes certainly wish her a very happy one!

Snapshot: Megan Lee & 2NE1

Snapshot time! Megan Lee recently participated in a contest hosted by Korean pop group 2NE1 where entrants made a cover video and the top selection would earn them the opportunity to meet the group. It’s just a situation of an artist herself, being a fan of music first and foremost. Besides, she’s a teenager! She’s entitled to geek out in the presence of her musical role models. Anyway, I came across the picture above on MyNinja’s blog and thought it’d be worth sharing with the rest of you. Perhaps some day Meagan will be in 2NE1′s shoes, with an international fan pawning at the chance to meet her.

As a little bonus check out her vlog entry on the entire ordeal after the break.

Preview Megan Lee’s Upcoming MV for “Destiny”

“Destiny” dropped as a single by Megan Lee back in mid-July and is about to get another boost in promotion via a new music video. The teaser has been made public and provides a pretty good look at things to come on the visual end. Thankfully, it would appear that the MV will match the production values of the song. This one will reportedly show a slightly different side of the teen singer, side stepping her usual portrayal as a bright, young, and playful girl. The final video is slated to drop on the 18th of the month (her birthday).

The All-Female Youtube Cover Round-Up – 8/13/11

Here we go folks. Just in time for the weekend we have another Youtube cover round-up with today’s common criteria being this is an all female affair. That’s right, there’s nary a Y chromosome in this batch – so what does that present us with? We have the return of Kina Grannis, a pair of songs by Jenny Suk, Cate Song doing Beyonce unplugged, and a couple of collabs by Megan Lee/Shin-B and Nessa Rica/Melissa Polinar. Check them all about below and after the break!

*Note: It’s kind of interesting to see “Uncharted” and “Best Thing I Never Had” have an eerily similar chord progression.

Another day, another endless batch of Youtube covers and remixes. Today’s theme is Top 40 Rap which of course includes remixes of the biggest names of late including Fab, Bad Meets Evil, Drake, Jay, Kanye and more. There are a few surprises in store including crooner Paul Kim showing his versatility by opting to spit a few bars, a conceptual remix by Triangle Offense and their ode to the Dark Knight, possibly the hungriest verses I’ve heard yet from the OnFire Ent crew, and that’s just to name a few. Check em all out below.

Megan Lee & Ensemble Memo Cover TVXQ’s “Magic Castle”

Megan Lee has been very musically active this summer as she uploads yet another cover this time enlisting the help of the talented men of Ensemble Memo. The group remixes it acoustic style to add their own flavor and harmonizes great with Megan’s vocals. We’ve already heard her do some Korean covers but this one delivers something different which makes it totally bump worthy. You can also support her by purchasing the song off iTunes here.
