The Youtube Collab Round-Up – 1/31/12
We figured why not end the last day of the first month with a new batch of Youtube covers. This round-up is another sampling platter of collaborations among different artists. There’s a lot of acoustic music in this particular grouping, with one particular exception. As always, the production qualities vary wildly but there should be something for everyone to enjoy.

Two Cents: GT’s Top 10 Performance Clips from 2011
OK. One week down in 2012, and 51 one left to go! We’re continuing our 2011 countdown series with a recap of my top 10 favorite performance clips from last year. The criteria for this list came down to a mixture factors, including the actual performance, the crowd response, production values, and sheer overall entertainment. The only other restriction was that the clip had to be released in the calendar year of 2011, even if the performance is from earlier. Lastly, click through till the end for a bonus pick that didn’t quite fit in my top 10 but shouldn’t be ignored.
Now, starting with my number 10 pick, we have…
10. April Chase – “All You Need to Say” (article)
Ever since first discovering April Chase a couple years ago, they quickly became one of my favorite Pop/Rock bands. The group encompasses radio friendly hooks with a great rock foundation, wrapped up with Carina Valdes’ sweet but gutsy vocals. The only thing the above clip that is missing, was an audience to appreciate the unplugged rendition of “All You Need to Say” from their EP, Still Breathing. It’s always a blessing when a rock group still sounds just as fun and engaging without the benefit of studio polish.
The Holiday Covers Round-Up Part 1
Welcome to a new round-up of Holiday-inspired covers. We say this is part 1 because we have no doubt that these are just the first of many more to come. It is only the 2nd of December after all. So no worries, we’ll make sure you won’t miss any renditions of your favorite holiday tunes by your favorite artists. This initial batch features Melissa Polinar, Manny Garcia, Feats in Inches, Dia Frampton, Tommy C & Lil Crazed. Where’s the hot cocoa when you need it?

Melissa Polinar Presents the Demo of “My Dear”
Ms Melissa Polinar makes a return with the unveiling of this demo version of an upcoming track called “My Dear” that she contributed to a friend’s project. Since it’s a demo, it’s just a tad unpolished but the girl sounds as good as ever on this piano driven piece. The singer/songwriter has a knack for adding just the right touch of jazzy influences to her raspy vocals to give any song a distinct flavor. Look for the final version in December! In the mean time, this one is a free DL so get it via bandcamp after the break.
My friend Jeff Bernat requested if I could write a song for a project he’s recording (about to be released Dec. 1) few months back. This is the song that I came up with and his version will be out soon (so check it out when it does!). This track is the demo track I did but I also added more background vocals. So yes, it’s yours for free! Go download it NOW! Shout out to J Cowell for playing the keys and co-creating this song with me.

Melissa Polinar Describes What “Feels Like Home”
The Texas Darlin’ known as Melissa Polinar has a new little ditty out that describes the simple joys of being at home – in case you couldn’t already guess by the title. The song is textbook Melissa, and that’s not a bad thing at all. So if you haven’t had your fill of Ms Polinar’s trademark raspy vocals then now’s your chance to remedy that.
Melissa Polinar Re-Releases “I’m Ready”
Texas darling Melissa Polinar may have first shared this song in 2008 but it’s now available for purchase in a re-tooled and polished form. Polinar takes the song in a slightly more R&B influenced direction, adding a favorable nuanced sound to her acoustic soul repertoire. This time around it’s complete with harmonies and better quality… but we still need a studio version! But until then, this version can be yours for a paltry dollar via the bandcamp widget below.
