Although the song itself is a few years old, Filipino-Canadian Mikey Bustos has released a music video for “Everytime My Heart Beats” from his Memoirs of a Superhero album (Amazon, iTunes). The song is a smooth (if not sappy) R&B/Pop ballad and it’s set to footage of a slow walk though the streets of the Philippines. It’s a relatively non-eventful watch, but at least it won’t turn away fans of the song itself. Take a watch and sing along with the lyrics (after the break).

Mikey Bustos Releases Video for “Invincible (The Resilience Anthem)”
Whoa, this is kind of trippy. Mikey Bustos has put together a new quaisi music/performance art video for a track he calls “Invincible (The Resilience Anthem)”. The song itself a power-pop track that is pretty interesting to listen to in itself, but coupled with the video it’s a little bizarre and definitely unique. Mikey portrays three distinctive characters that all deal with trial and tribulations. I’m not sure I can say I’m a fan of the video but I’ll leave it up to you decide for yourself. The song can be found on his album from a couple years ago, Memoirs of a Superhero.
The three characters I created in this performance video represent different things. The ordinary person in the grey tank top represents a whole person. The animated, very energetic, crafty, and optimistic character with white eyes represents the spiritual self, which knows that it is perfect and resilient. His hat reads ‘Superhero’, a role which he continually plays. The shadowy silhouette character represents the physical self, forever searching deep inside for strength from the spiritual self, hence the light on the head which is reminiscent of a miner. The physical self dances amidst a barren and hostile background. The message of this entire work is that once both the physical and spiritual self are aligned, one achieves immortality and invincibility despite adversity.
Mikey Bustos Shares New Original – “I Promise”
Candian pop/R&B singer Mikey Bustos has a new song to share and it’s called “I Promise”. He categorizes it as an original wedding ballad and I think that’s a pretty accurate description. It’s another reminder just how talented this guy is. I’m sure there are those of you that will find the song too sappy, and others who will find it romantic. I’m somewhere in the middle but you know what? I can appreciate a good ballad. I am part Korean after all haha. The song is well produced and has a beautiful melody. Great song from MB.
Mikey Bustos Sings New Original – “This Rose”
Canadian singer Mikey Bustos doesn’t share songs on Youtube as often as some of his contemporaries but here is a new one from the former Canadian Idol singer. It’s a lullaby he wrote for a former girlfriend, with the use of his limited knowledge of chords, incorporating only 3. He sings it beautifully thought admiteddly lullabys aren’t my favorite format of music. Still, his voice suits the style like a glove and its great to hear new material from the guy.

Mikey Bustos Interview w/ Liquid Lunch Radio
Check out this 20 minute interview of Mikey Bustos with Liquid Lunch Radio. They talk in depth about his charity single ‘Be Mine at Christmas Time’ for the Canadian Breast Cancer Network. In the second half they get into his life since being on Candian Idol 6 years ago and how the show opened up doors for him.
Honestly the interview drags a little bit but if you’re a Mikey fan you probably won’t mind.
This is an incredibly ignorant thing to say, but I’m a bit amused by the Canadian accents. No disrespect =P
Check after the jump for an additional interview segment w/ Nikki Clarke.
Mikey Bustos Releases MV for ‘All I Need Is Me’
Mike Bustos, a former Canadian Idol star, dropped the MV to his single ‘All I Need Is Me’ earlier this month. I’ve never heard of him prior to today but I found out the dude can sing.
That being said, I’m not too crazy about this single but its good to see the guy making moves. The song just sounds kind of generic to me.
What do you think?
