afterschoolspecial x The Dreamlapse Project Debut MV for “Dreamers”
Now this is a pretty cool watch. Sometimes good things take time to come to fruition. Such is the case with the music video to “Dreamers” from afterschoolspecial‘s album, It’s All In Your Head. For this music video, they enlisted the new “it” team of the moment, The Dreamlapse Project to create a fun visual in the first person format a la Prodigy. And to help with the project, they’ve gotten everyone to make a cameo and join along for the ride. When I say everyone, I mean everyone. Check out the notes after the video below for the complete list of talent as well as a link to the BTS post.

Thanks so much to Daniel and Scott from The Dreamlapse Project for partnering up on this music video. We first started talking about this project almost a year ago, and to see it finally come together with the finished project is a beautiful thing. They really went above and beyond to get this video done so high five to them. Also a HUGE thanks to everyone who made a cameo in the video. Thanks for giving of your time to take part in what i see as such a community collaboration. Inspiring. Cathy Nguyen, Aj Rafael, David Choi, Jason Chen, Jennifer Chung, Joseph Vincent, Toestah, Arika Sato, Kevin Lien, Dawen, Paul Dateh, Andi Terada, Geo and Chuck of Instant Noodles Crew, Wong Fu Productions, and Ryan Higa. Another important note is this video is that NONE of this would be possible without the backing and work of afterschoolspecial who need their due credit- Jaylen Green, Keane Aranita, Todd Olson, Brian Figueroa, and Victor Velasquez.
Watch Paul Dateh’s “2011 Memory Bank”
Paul Dateh took the opportunity to put together a recap video from the past year, simply titled Memory Bank 2011. It’s a montage of photos set to the tune of his “Estranged from Language”, an upcoming track from himself and Ken Belcher. The video was a cool idea and a great way to close out the year in a memorable note but I’m even more interested in the release of the song itself.
Paul Dateh Releases “One for James” & “Fade Away”

As we previously shared with you, Paul Dateh has released the singles “One for James” and “Fade Away” as part of a single album as the A and B side songs, respectively. Although having different “sides” is a bit of an antiquated term, you still get two new songs from an artist whose music is hard to get enough of. Can’t wait till we get a chance to check out these two ourselves.
Hear a Preview of “Fade Away” by Paul Dateh

Earlier this month, you may recall us sharing a preview of Paul Dateh‘s upcoming single “oneforjames”, due for a December release. The artist has unveiled another piece of the puzzle by sharing a preview of “Fade Away”, the B-side to said single. It has a similar feel in terms of sound and style and in general we can’t wait to hear the final version of both. No worries, you’ll know when it drops as soon as we do!
Paul Dateh Offers Sneak Peek at New Single – “oneforjames (the parting glass)”
It would appear that Paul Dateh has something big cooking up in the lab. He’s posted up a preview/teaser clip of a new single titled “oneforjames (the parting glass)” and has offered few other details other than the fact that it’s due in December. OK Mr Dateh, you have my attention now… but why do we have to wait a month? Can’t wait to hear the final product.
Paul Dateh Shares the Creatively Made “Elevated”
Paul Dateh is one of those musicians that stands out from the pack, not just because he has talent but perhaps even more importantly because he is so undeniably creative. When was the last time you saw a musician use sound samples from an elevator to craft their latest work? That’s exactly what happened here as Dateh used his phone to pick up sounds from lifts, and added a little bit of percussion to forge the piece you hear below.
Love it.
Paul Dateh Performs and Interviews w/ Knocksteady
Musician/Singer/Producer/Violinist extraordinaire, Paul Dateh, was one of the latest guest on Dumbfoundead’s Knocksteady series. As per the usual show format, he performs and then chats with the crew. To say the dude is dope is an understatement. The interview is fairly in depth and provides perhaps one of the best glimpse yet of the man behind the violin.

Just ‘Cause: An Alternate Fan-Made MV to Dumbfoundead’s “Are We There Yet”
It’s always a good sign when an artist begins to have a large enough fan base where some of them create their own versions, remixes, and adaptations of the original material. Dumbfoundead has certainly developed such a following and we wanted to share one of the more impressive works, not officially commissioned by DFD, that we’ve come across. Artist DK took it upon himself to create this incredible animated version of DFD’s latest single “Are We There Yet“. This certainly isn’t the first time Dumb’s fans have created something cool for him, and we’re sure it’s not the last either.
As a bonus check out a dope live performance of the song by DFD complete with a full band (including Paul Dateh).
Megan Lee Reveals her “Destiny”
Even though promotions for “Love, Laugh & Live” are still underway, that doesn’t mean Megan Lee is resting on her laurels. Her 2nd official single, “Destiny” has just dropped and features a ton of talent backing her including Smash Hitta on the production, Anthony Balmeo on the guitar and Paul Dateh on the violin. The pop-ballad is a fairly strong entry into young Megan’s budding discography, and to be quite frank I think I may have enjoyed it more than her debut single. An EP is reportedly in the works but I wouldn’t mind if she moved away from the slower numbers and tried her hand at something a little more bubbly & upbeat. If you want to check out “Destiny”, it is currently available on iTunes & AmazonMP3.

Jason Chen x Paul Dateh x Dawen
We came across this cool photo taken by Scott Yoshimoto of Jason Chen, Paul Dateh, and Dawen standing in line at Disneyland in Southern California during a recent excursion with other friends/musicians. We can always appreciate it when artists don’t just collaborate, but befriend one another as well; developing a close-knit community. Plus those expressions in the picture are priceless. Dope RADisRAD shirttoo.
