Petey-O x C-Note x JL Collab For “Light It Up”

Virginia MCs sure like to stick together, and I can understand why. For this particular case, we have representatives from Belly Out an SuperNoVa. Petey-O, C-Note  & JL have jumped on a beat by ctru, in that order. Those wanting a break from the overly polished songs of the radio may find solace in this track of a more raw persuasion. Unfortunately we don’t have a download link, but you can stream via Soundcloud.

[Edit - You can now DL via Soundcloud too]

Petey-O Drops a Visual for “Hustle On”

You might ahve never guessed it, but Belly Out’s Petey-O is something of a musical prodigy, handling instrumentation, production and vocals for his tracks. “Hustle On” is another menacing example that hits hard and as a bonus, is accompanied by a simple promo MV. Look closely and you’ll see some of the DMV’s finest talent present in the various footage. The watch isn’t pristine in quality, but it gets the job done.

Lyricks Introduces You to “Jezebelle” (ft Petey-O)

Here’s a smooth sounding track coming from just south of the Potomac river by Lyricks and Petey-O of Bellyout on that electric six-string. I’m loving the instrumentation… it’s so sultry and seedy, coupled with Rick’s rapid fire flows it becomes a great match. If you pay attention you’ll find a bunch of cameos via various spliced in footage.

More Videos from Lyricks & Company – “Guy on the Couch” ft Josh Shepard & Petey-O; “Spray Paint Cans” ft DJ Zo

As we predicted, once Ly gets on a creative roll – he doesn’t stop until he’s tapped out. Here are a pair of videos featuring some of his long time friends and collaborators, Josh Shepard & Petey-O on “Guy on the Couch” and DJ Zo on “Spray Paint Cans and Prayer”. Any one familiar to the NoVa area should recognize some of the sights and locations in the video. These aren’t full blown MVs so much as they are companion pieces to the music – a notable distinction.

[Album Release] JL x Manifest – Pull.Haul.Junkies Mixtape [Free DL]

Two-thirds of the Beautiful Cycle (JL x Manifest) camp has been out in Korea, but that hasn’t slowed down their grind one bit. In fact they’ve been busier than ever and here is their first post-domestic collection of tracks – the Pull.Haul.Junkies mixtape. There are a ton of supporting characters here too including Lyricks (of course), Khovito, MYK, Jin, Petey-O, C-Note and more. We’ve heard a couple tracks on here before including “Bloodsport“, “It Was Written“, and “Scarves“. It’s a free DL, check the Bandcamp widget below.

Petey-O x Lyricks – “Get Em”

If you’ve been looking for that no-holds barred Hip-Hop out of the mid-Atlantic then look no further than the latest from Virginia’s Petey-O and Lyricks. The Belly Out x TBC collaboration features both emcees ripping into a Jim Jones beat with energy and tenacity. A pretty dope remix if you ask me. Hope to see more and more VA blended tracks.

Lyricks Releases “Blessed Be His Name” In Remembrance of the Light of Love Incident

For those who haven’t heard, a church van got involved in a terrible accident involving in death and injuries as a retreat van lost control and tumbled down a snowy mountainside in California. The ripple effect of grief has been somewhat sizeable, affecting and convicting hearts all over. One such individual Lyricks, who has been moved to create music for a cause before. With the help of Petey-O and C-Note, he takes a sample of the classic Matt Redman worship song “Blessed Be Your Name” and flips it into a song of grief, resolution, and ultimately hope.

JL x Josh x Manifest x Petey-O Release New Single – “Scarves”

The fella out of SuperNoVa were never ones to shy away from the more raw, underground, grimy style of Hip-Hop. This trend continues with “Scarves”, a big collab song featuring JL, Josh, Manifest, and Petey-O. No hook, no auto-tune, no non-sense. I’m not sure if this track will appeal to a broader audience but for those of you that dig that unadulterated form of rap will likely nod ya heads to this one.

Petey-O Releases “Going Away” MV Featuring Monica and JL

Producer/MC Petey-O has dropped a new single featuring Monica on the hook and JL on the closer verse. Petey-O has got that West Coast type of flow that matches the track well but quite it does’t fully come alive until JL lays down his part, he was definitely the highlight of the track. This one’s aight.

Video directed by Lyricks.
