Rachael Yamagata Performs “Dealbreaker” for Refueled

At last week’s SXSW, Rachael Yamagata performed her song “Dealbreaker” off her Chesapeake album for the folks at Refueled. The video clip is part of their Automatic Buzz studio sessions and this particular footage has Rachael with nothing but her trusty guitar and a few minutes to sing her heart out. Yamagata has always been one of those types of artists that thrive in an intimate setting and this is yet another example.

Rachael Yamagata Talks Frankenfish, Chesapeake, Heartache & More with NPR

Rachael Yamagata has the opportunity to chat and share her music with NPR, where they discussed her breaking off from the major labels, starting her own, her latest album Chesapeake and why her melancholy tunes of heartbreak aren’t always a reflection of self. Yamagata fans looking for a little bit more insight into the singer/songwriter should definitely check this one out. Listen to the interview session in it’s entirety here.

Priscilla Ahn & Rachael Yamagata Feature on Ashtar Command’s ‘American Sunshine’ Album

Priscilla Ahn & Rachael Yamagata

If you’re an indie music fan, you may be familiar with a band called Ashtar Command. Well, fairly recently, they dropped a new album entitled American Sunshine and if you peruse the tracklist you’ll notice that two of our favorite artists make numerous guest appearances on the project – Priscilla Ahn & Rachael Yamagata. If you’re on Spotify (and honestly, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be) then you can check out the album in full. For those that want to snap them up for their music player of choice, you can find the links to the aforementioned tracks after the break.

Rachael Yamagata Interviews w/ Magnet

Magnet has a new interview out with Rachael Yamagata, fresh off the release of her album Chesapeake. The best thing about the interview is probably the fact they dive a little deeper into the music making process, discussing specifics of various songs along with how and why things are on the record or not. Instead of starting of focusing on the person and then touching upon the craft they do the opposite; letting the discussion of the art speak for it’s creator. A recommended and easy read. Check it out here.

New MV & Single – “Even If I Don’t” by Rachael Yamagata

As the release date (October 11th) for Rachael Yamagata‘s Chesapeake inches closer and closer, we’re beginning to get glimpses of more and more music from the album. Her next song to push is “Even If I Don’t”, which has been given the official digital release along with a music video courtesy of Spinner. The slightly up-tempo track is paired with a somewhat bizarre MV featuring full-body animal costumes – a furry fandom’s dream. You can read a little bit more about the MV after the break.

Rachael Yamagata Debuts the MV for “Starlight”

Rachael Yamagata has just debuted the MV on MTV Hive for her single “Starlight” off her upcoming Chesapeake, her first LP in 3 years. The video takes a decidedly lo-fi approach, full of stylized visuals and abstract footage… a somewhat welcome deviation from the overly glossy, super crisp HD video productions that have become the norm. I’m really like both the songs and visuals for this one. Looking forward to the complete album!
