WTF: Urban Azn Presents War For Respect

Wow, time flies… it’s another Weekly Thursday Freebie (It’s already the 18th one!).

But all the credit for this one goes to the good fellas over at Urban Azn. They are the ones that compiled this hip-hop mixtape together for your listening pleasure.

A compilation album of the most prominent Asian rappers in hip hop, War For Respect focuses on the street life that many of us are dealing with today. The album is free for download and promotional uses, hit the jump for details on the album.

The mixtape features Jin, Decipher, Mondega, Shogunna, Rookadamus, Flowsik, Reign Era, Roscoe Umali, Thai, Chan, LS, Yung Mac, & Chuckie Akenz. Some of the songs are pretty dated but the project gives a fair representation on the numerous street singles by Asian-American/Candian Hip-Hop artists over the past few years. The cover art borders between a stylized cool and excessive to the point of cheesy but that doesn’t detract from the fact it’s a pretty good collection of tracks.

You can find the back cover w/ the tracklisting and link for DL after the jump!

WTF: About That Money MV & MP3

Welcome back to another Weekly Thursday Freebie. This week we have last summer’s hit hop-hop single ‘About That Money’ featuring Flowsik, Decipher, Shogunna & Reign Era. It’s a pretty hot collab, though not as nice as the more recent ‘One of the Best‘ in my opinion.

In case you missed the original post, you can check the MV below:

If you’re interested you can dl the MV and song after the jump!

WTF: Flowsik – Find a Way Out

I decided to make an old favorite of mine this week’s thursday freebie. Here’s a clip of Flowsik performing back at the first Kollaboration NY back in 2005. He performs two songs. The first is a great track called ‘Find a Way Out’. I’m not sure what the second song is, but Flow brings out a special guest hypeman, none other than Shogunna.

It’s cool to see them so much younger but still grinding hard. If you’re feeling ‘Find a Way Out’ then you’re in luck because I’m including the official song as well.

WTF: Shogunna Discography

What’s going on folks. We’re bringing you the Weekly Thursday Freebie a few hours early this week but really who’s gonna complain =P.

Similar to last week, an artist has made his material available online for free download.  Rather than make a separate post about it I’m gonna be lazy and incorporate it into this weeks WTF. That’s wassup haha.

Anyways, Queens representative Shogunna has announced that you can download both his albums for free from his website. Previously, only one of the two albums was legit free (The ‘Free Hip-Hop’ mixtape). The other album (‘Signed 2 the Streets’) was originally available for purchase.

So if you haven’t gotten either yet, no excuses. Links after the jump!

New Shogunna MV for ‘City Life’

Shogunna released his new MV for the song ‘City Life’. The video itself isn’t exactly unique but it was shot in Korea and that in itself makes it worth mentioning.

It woulda been sweet if Chan stepped away from UPT for a sec and had a cameo but no dice. Either way, this is one of the best tracks I’ve heard from Sho from a while so I definitely recommend you peep it. My only minor complaint was that he repeated the outro so many friggin times haha.

Critic’s Corner: Decipher – The Best Things in Life Vol. 1

I know this was promised a month ago but oh well. Here it is haha.

Decipher is an MC I’ve seen hone his craft for the past 6+ years now. I’ve witnessed him transition from a battle MC to a full out song writer and in my opinion he’s one of the most skilled artists in the game. Initially this album was supposed to be released back in April but was pushed back till October for various reasons. Now that it’s finally dropped we have the opportunity to hear some of his latest work as he hasn’t had a release since 06. De stated that he wanted to make this album a little more personal, and that he did it for the fans. So with that let’s take a look.

Decipher releases new mixtape, new site

Decipher has just dropped a new mixtape entitled “The Best Things In Life Vol. 1″, free for download. The mixtape features Ailee, Jam EZ, Flowsik, Shogunna, Reign Era, and Johnny Phlo along with the hit street single “About That Money“.

Decipher is an incredible MC that rarely disappointments. I’ll have a review up later in the week but make sure you check it out.
